to be gutted that I ALWAYS miss the threads that kick off?

I only ever see the "second line" threads that refer to the provocative threads.

What's worse that is when I go to look for the fighty thread, I can't find it. It's sooooooo painful. There should be a section called "Are you looking at me....?" for threads that have started a row.

Please always reference the original thread in the follow on threads. I can't find the bloody class one as usual.

I've been on here a year too. Booo Hooooo I am mumsnet-impaired.

evenhope · 09/02/2008 20:16

No, I always miss them too and I've been here 5 years

lardylumps · 09/02/2008 20:17

I know what you mean i am new to mumsnet and I dont really know what i am doing. Just keep pressing last 15 minutes button. I am sure i am missing out.

Sunshinemummy · 09/02/2008 20:20

I think it's usually obvious which threads are going to kick off:

Anything about class
Breast and bottle feeding
Parking

There are others. Can't think of them offhand.

Sunshinemummy · 09/02/2008 20:20

NutterlyUts · 09/02/2008 20:32

I think this is refering to last night's childminder one?

melpomene · 09/02/2008 20:33

Anything on the theme of "is it ok to leave a child alone in a room/house/car" will also kick off.

Desiderata · 09/02/2008 20:34

No, we're not always, lardylumps, but we like each other, so we try not to step on each other's toes. That's the way it works, I guess, in RL and on MN.

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 20:35

I always miss them too and the original post has always been deleted.

I would takes Desiderata's stance tbh and start fights if you're concerned

Desiderata · 09/02/2008 20:37

I agree, it is exasperating when you miss one.

How sad is that?

MAMAZON · 09/02/2008 20:38

i hardly ever get in at the beginning. for once i did and it didn't seem to be kicking off....then i went out and came back to 100's of posts and teh argument resolved.

most irritating

madamez · 09/02/2008 20:39

Start your own! Good ways to get a real belter going are:

Insult a whole category of people (doing it on the grounds of race is not only vulgar dumbfuck behaviour but just gets the thread pulled within about 3 posts - have a go at car owners, people with more than 3 children, non-vegans, vegans, dressing your baby in designer clothing, having lots of pets, refusing to have pets...)

Hint or threaten to 'out' someone who's on MN or say that 'someone' on MN has done something awful and got away with it because she (or he) is In The Clique but never reveal what or who it is you're cross about.

Or say you have no idea why so many allegedly intelligent women are absolutely drenching their underwear over Gene Hunt.

Octothechildherder · 09/02/2008 20:39

I've started one about blending MacDonalds but have had not takers

Over to you ladies for a fun filled evening!

lardylumps · 09/02/2008 20:41

Well dp is down the pub, dd is asleep and i have my bottle of wine so let the fun begin...
