hi,

Some people might have seen my other thread. i fell off my horse quite badly but was actually ok (just a bit dazed!) and didn’t need to get medical help after it. I mainly hurt my knee and my finger.

my knee feels a bit stiff but I can tell I haven’t actually damaged it, it’s just a bit sore. But my finger feels SO weird. It’s a bit sore but not excruciating, but it feels weird. It’s really, really stiff, and know the feeling when you have a hair bobble round your wrist and your hand sort of feels dead and weird? That’s what it feels like. It’s really weird. It’s sore to press on it, and it’s swollen and dark compared to the other finger (I’ll post a photo)

I don’t think I’ve broken or dislocated it as presumably I’d be in a lot of pain, but something doesn’t feel right with it. Honestly I don’t feel like it merits a&e and we don’t have a minor ailments unit near us so it’s a&e or nothing and I don’t think my sore finger merits that, not yet anyway as the pain might wear off . Just wondering if anyone has done similar and had any advice or knowledge?

cheers 😀

If you can bear it, set your alarm and go to a&e at 5am.

You could have a dislocated tendon and that requires medical attention before permanent damage is done.

Noone can help you here

Get medical help

The first photo shows the injured finger (it’s the index finger) and the 2nd photo shows my other hand where the index finger isn’t injured. It actually doesn’t look too swollen and dark on the photos so maybe I’m worrying unnecessarily and it’s not as bad in real life either!

What’s throwing me off is that I can straighten it (albeit with difficulty) and it doesn’t feel particularly sore or painful, it just feels weird as if something really tight is round it (no, the plaster on the end of the finger isn’t too tight and I’ve only just stuck it on)

Help please!!!

I can see the swelling. Do you have a minor injuries you can go to in the morning ?

Missingthegore · 25/02/2023 01:03

This could be brusing to the spinal cord or a wedge fracture of a vertebrae causing compression
Or a depressed clavicle fracture
Go to A&E

worth getting checked out - we used to have those sorts of finger injuries in netball where a hard ball has pushed a finger back and it feels thick - its likely you put your hand down and your finger was jarred but better to be safe than sorry.

JennyDarlingRIP · 25/02/2023 08:34

There was a nurse on your other thread who told you to go to a&e to get checked out in case if spinal/clavicle/head injuries due to you feeling disconnected etc and the height and force at which you fell. Take her advice, get your finger checked out too.

Go to A&E

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 25/02/2023 08:50

Obviously a&e

LikeTearsInRain · 25/02/2023 08:52

Go to a&e as you will need an x ray at the least.
