Hi

Looking for some advice or even reassurance to know whether I'm being unreasonable or not.

I will try to keep this as short as possible as don't wish to out myself nor friend concerned.
I've been awake at night tossing and turning with this dilemma for several days now and really don't know if reporting could open a can or worms all round.

A friend has been struggling for a while with dependency to prescription meds (very strong painkillers, sedatives and anti depressants plus other things). She confessed recently to getting getting strong painkillers from relatives and non mutual friends to tide her over as she's on the maximum dose of everything and it's not touching the sides so she's on some strong concoctions and no idea what else she has got her hands on tbh as she said it was best I didn't know and didn't want anyone to know.

Now here's the part I'm worried about. She has recently started doing part time delivery work, a lot of it is daft hours after she's taken sedatives etc.

Do I report her to DVLA or the police or both? I don't think I could live with myself if she caused an accident, she could kill someone or herself. She is a single mother of three. Tried talking to her but she doesn't listen so only option is to report her without her knowing.

Thanks for listening.

Yes, I would report. As you say, she could kill someone. Maybe this will be the intervention she needs to shock her into getting help for her addiction. Don't be surprised if she cuts you out of her life, though. At least your conscience will be clear. She could be a safeguarding risk to her own kids as well if she is driving them while under the influence, or not fully alert when caring for them.

Absolutely report her before she kills someone and destroys her own and someone else's family.

Well this is the thing, she is driving her children around like it and they will think it's the norm.
I feel awful for doing it but I feel like I'm guilty for finding out this new revelation and not acting quicker.
