Honestly, I really like turnips, and turnip greens. And that young woman on Masterchef blew my mind with her turnip meal.

Parsnips are the anaemic carrots.
Turnips are purply with white tops
Swedes are yellow round and hairy

@JellyMouse , I’ve had no trouble finding turnips in Asda - they go in my multi-veg winter soups, and now and then chopped small with other roots, to bulk out a mince-based dish.

My mum used to bake Marrows and it was delicious and roast parsnips are equally lovely.
I was brought up on veggies and like them , but I've never tasted turnips

When I have coffee I take my turnips with me so I have someone to chat to.

Turnips used to be nearer the size of a football. Now there are just small ones available - upshot is they are flavourless and hard.
The big turnips stayed in/on the ground most of the winter so I suppose they have to harvest them earlier now so they can plant the next crop.
I love turnip btw.
