What is this hideous virus?

Has anyone else had this hideous illness?

Day 1 - Horrendous painful cough, horrible taste in mouth, consequently extremely sore throat

Day 2 - I couldn't stand up for more than 5 mins without feeling like I was going to faint. Aches and pains all over. No appetite.

Day 3 - could stand up again, cough not as painful, feeling as if I'm getting better. Small appetite.

Day 4 - Full blown cold. Can't believe it. Just as I thought I was getting better. Fed up.

It's not like a normal illness. It keeps mutating and changing. DC has it too and the same thing is happening to them.

My son and I had this in December 2019 so was unlikely to be covid. I had to stop half way up the stairs due to the breathlessness and tight chest. Went hot and clammy when dizzy. Couldn't eat for days. I saw a GP who put it down to flu. I drank lucozade and Berroca as much as I could and when I could eat again I stuck to bland food such as toast. Hope you feel better soon

I have it too. Lateral flow tests say it's not Covid. I feel awful.

Started with an awfully sore throat, then the cough, then mutated into a flu like ache pain virus and now I have a full blown headcold. This has been going on for 2 weeks. My husband is floored, temps of 39°. Poor DD has it too, I've never seen so much snot in my life. Sending love OP. It's ROTTEN.

Both me and dh have had (actually...stil have) this! Dh came down with it at the start of half term, it then took me out 3 days later. He said some kid he was teaching was looking rough and was just coughing and coughing and coughing (probably infected the whole class). You think people would be more aware since covid about hygiene and keeping properly sick kids off school.

Lateral flows all negative, but it was actually worse than when we both had covid. I came out in a rash as well (to round things off nicely). Extreme fatigue, painful cough, sore throat, body aches and an on/of fever. Also couldn't face the thought of food for about 3 days. Been left with fatigue, a slightly productive cough and a dulled appetite.

I think it ranks in the top 5 worst colds I have had in recent years.

I had this, only just better 2 weeks and a few days in. It was the worst sore throat. Really really nasty virus. I spent about 10 days not being able to sleep as the cough was so bad. It felt worse than the couple of times I've had Covid by a long way!

I've found my people! I have it, the tiredness & throat is the worst! Had it since Monday 😒

My dads come down with something similar, and after having it go round our household over Xmas I feel for anyone getting it now.

Both DH and I have had something similar in the last 2/3 weeks.
DH has got over it and is fine.

I'm left with no sence of smell or taste which is awful.

COVID tests are negative.

I have been ill on and off for the last 3 weeks, on my 2nd lot of antibiotics. Had awful sore throat 1st time round and then horrendous cough.I think there is so much going round at the moment.

This seems to be what I’ve got… again! Last one no way near as bad as this.
