Amazon packaging

Just had a delivery, large cardboard box, yards and yards of brown paper inside.........

the items? 4 Cushions.

Really need cushioning for cushions?

In fact the cushions were vacuum packed in thick plastic, 2 in each package, so could have sent without paper or box surely?!

As long as you recycle it it doesn't matter. If you bin it like I usually do then maybe it's a problem. I think they take the view that cardboard/paper packaging is cheap and the cost of a damaged item is potentially quite high.

They sometimes send things in their own packaging, I had to request "ship in Amazon packaging" the other week so that it turned up in a box instead of just loose.

Businesses phased out plastic wrapping because people had an anti-plastic fetish, cardboard and paper are more "in" now. You mention that your items were already in plastic wrapping so you should be angry at the manufacturer of that really.

If you don't like packaging it's best not to shop online, stick to bricks-and-mortar businesses where you may be able to take the item without packaging at all.

I had an Amazon packaging free delivery yesterday - the Amazon labels were stuck on the box and I could not have got them off without ripping the print on the box which I did not want to do because the item was a gift. The box had a big rip on the front where it had been damaged by the delivery company. The item has been returned to Amazon as "damaged during delivery" and re-ordered with Amazon packaging this time.

Be careful what you ask for - no box and your cushions may have arrived ripped to shreds by the time you got them.

I thought this was going to be about the hideous smell - all their cardboard boxes smell of vomit now!

I didn't notice a smell, so that's something 🙂

Dotjones I think the plastic wrapping was because the cushions were vacuum packed, so expanded mightily when I cut the plastic.

I'll definitely be recycling the paper and cardboard, just thought it pretty ridiculous to use it in the first place for something unbreakable.
