Peri-menopause - solutions - advice

Hi

I'm perimenopausal - my periods are still very much going - but are varying from 3 weeks apart to 5 weeks apart

I'm very very emotional and have a fair few symptoms (itchy ears, dry skin, vaginal dryness, nausea (It is like morning sickness), headaches, bad mood)

I went to my GP - who said as I have periods my only option is to go on the mini pill - she gave me various reasons as to how this would work (regulating hormones)

In the past the pill has made me grumpy fat and depressed. I'm terrified to return to the pill (I tried 3 different times and it was always a bad fit)

BUT the symptoms I'm experiencing are really hard to live with - any advice or info would be helpful :) TY

That's bollocks, I have friends who still have periods but are on HRT. I also have a friend on the mini pill and HRT! I'd go back or find another doctor.

treat the dry skin with lotion, vaginal dryness with non prescription vaginal moisturizers (suppository types available over the counter).
take the occasional tylenol for the headache.
the mood thing is usually justified and simply express what is pissing you off.
no clue about the nausea maybe some herbal teas might help?

Read the menopause board. There is some much useful information.

Your GP is talking shite. I'm in peri, with a coil so no periods. NICE guidance says they should prescribe HRT based on symptoms, of which you have many. Please seek a second opinion. I had to get 3 before I found a GP who would prescribe HRT, and I'm young for it

Peri menopausal here with periods, been on HRT for just over a year, life changing, had to fight for years to get it though as apparently I looked too young 🙄 stopped dying my grey hair and hey presto I was allowed what I knew I needed. Best of luck to you

You can get HRT even if you still have periods. find another doctor.

I didn't know there was a menopause board - off to try and find it

Your doctor is wrong. Go back and insist she allows you to access hrt. The menopause board is excellent for advice on this. Good luck.
