To feel a little hurt over something DH did?

My father rang the other day to ask DH if he wanted in on a meal out they were planning for mothers day this year.

It'd be me, my mom, my aunt and my grandmother plus dad, dh and ds.

Its not a fancy restaurant, its a nice pub just up the road from us... we're talking 10gbp a head for a 3 course meal.

DH's reaction was "we can't afford it"

Then last night he went to a concert in Wolverhampton and spent 30gbp on a T-shirt!!!

So yeah, i'm a little annoyed that he's saying he can't afford to take me out for lunch on mothers day but can spend that much on a flaming band t-shirt.

£30 on a t-shirt is ludicrous. Go for the meal without him .

YANBU - he was probably being thoughtless rather than horrid but he still needs a good kick up the proverbial. Make sure you are the one giving it to him

Hmmm.
Was he avoiding a big family get together centred on your family?
or genuinely being tight?

motherinferior · 09/02/2008 18:41

I agree with Colditz.

Maybe he has other plans for mothers day

Emprexia · 09/02/2008 19:27

genuinely being tight, lol.

Well, he doesn't like 'going out for a meal' but IMHO, its MY mothers day, and i want to be taken out to dinner... wether its with my family or just us, i don't mind.

We don't bother with valentines beyond a card each, so i don't think its too much to ask.

Don't cook on Mother's day - go to a pub on your own if you have to but it is YOUR day and you shouldn't cook!

Go without him, shrink his stupid T-shirt AND buy shoes for Father's day!

Fireflyfairy2 · 09/02/2008 22:00

Why don't you just go out with your family & ds. He can stay at home & admire his stripey t-shirt
