Specsavers - glass case?

SpringDaffy · 17/02/2023 22:00

I've ordered and paid for 2 pairs of glasses today at Specsavers. One Tommy Hillfiger the other Hugo Boss. Cost more than I would have liked 😏 but as I'll be wearing them a lot, I thought it was worth investing in ones I really like.
Never thought to ask at the time, but does anyone know if they come with hard cases? With them being designer ones, I'm hoping so. The soft cases are useless as they'll get broken in my handbag!

Yes, they absolutely will. Even if it's not the branded ones, the Specsavers hard cases are really good. And you get them for free.

MoreSleepPleasee · 17/02/2023 22:02

Yes mine always have had cases from specsavers

ElfAndSafetyBored · 17/02/2023 22:11

I bought designer glasses from Boots. They gave them to me in a Boots glasses case so I asked for the designer one and they said they get thrown away at the factory! But they managed to find me one when I raised my eyebrows so high they popped off my head. It was useless though, enormous, I’ve used the ugly Boots one instead.

I’ve had designer glasses from Specsavers quite a bit - not these particular brands but they all came with designer cases so I imagine yours would.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/02/2023 22:15

My Orla Kiely glasses (designer by my standards) from Asda opticians came with a lovely hard case - very pretty. The lady told me it was one of her favourites when I ordered them!
i’d be cross if yours don’t.

Topseyt123 · 17/02/2023 22:16

All pairs of glasses I have ever bought from Specsavers have come with pretty good hard cases.

DungareeDana · 17/02/2023 22:16

I bought some Kylie Minogue glasses from Specsavers and they came in a full glitter case and when the woman saw my aghast face she gave me a specsavers case as well.

Badbudgeter · 17/02/2023 22:19

My Karen Millen ones ( designerish?) came with a hard case that also folds flat which is quite nice.

IloveJudgeJudy · 17/02/2023 22:22

One the designer glasses at specsavers always come with a designer case. One time mine didn't so I asked for one which they found for me.

Spotsstripes · 17/02/2023 22:24

Yes I got two pairs of karen millen glasses recently and they came with a case in a triangular prism shape which folds flat. Nice but not great to take out and about so they gave me a specsavers hardcase too.

Justleaveitblankthen · 17/02/2023 22:24

I have always been asked which type of case I prefer and I choose hard. I have dozens of the soft cases for my 'ready readers' from Primark etc.
I have only been offered traditional blue, but have spotted pink ones behind the desk makes note to request said item at my next eye test

PriamFarrl · 17/02/2023 22:27

When I worked in a variety of opticians the designer glasses always came with a branded case. If they don’t give you a branded one then they will give you a Specsavers one.

SpringDaffy · 17/02/2023 22:30

Ooh sounds like I'll get hard cases then, I was hoping so with the amount I've forked out today 😬😬
Thanks all!

My horrendously expensive Lindbergh's, came in a semi hard case. I was not impressed by that. Fortunately the next pair came in a better case. They are supposed to be indestructible, but I'd rather not put it to the test!

CherryPieface · 17/02/2023 22:47

Even cheap glasses from Specsavers come with a hard case. They are usually brightly coloured, easy to find!

BashfulClam · 17/02/2023 22:51

DH bought designer glasses and got a Specsavers case. He demanded the actual designer case due to how much his glasses cost. He was mighty pissed off at not getting the right case.

My adult son has bog standard cheap boots brand glasses and has ended up with a designer case!!

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 17/02/2023 23:31

I've used specsavers for about 15 years now, had all different glasses from budget range to designer and I can't think of a single time I haven't had a hard case with them.

Grumpybutfunny · 17/02/2023 23:35

Marc Jacobs that I have had made into sunglasses came with a black hard case. Vivienne Westwood's came with a lovely soft grey case, I don't really take them off so wasn't bothered. I think they do their own hard cases if you want one.

KnickerlessParsons · 17/02/2023 23:38

Spwcsavers here has a pretty constant two for one deal going on.
But yes, glasses come with a hard case.

Murdoch1949 · 18/02/2023 20:03

When my designer specs came in a Boots hard case, I complained and they gave me the appropriate cases. The designer cases are (usually) much more attractive and usable. Wtf is wrong with them? If we're paying £200+ for specs we want decent cases. Are they flogging them on eBay?

Thehop · 18/02/2023 20:22

I know it's not what you asked but I've just bought 3 pairs of glasses from glasses direct. I added my prescription details, and sent it off to them when they queried it. All 3 pairs are brilliant. £89 delivered. I'll never buy in store again.

How do you go about getting the prescription without having to buy high priced specs from the optician?

You have an eye test and they give you the prescription. You are under no obligation to buy glasses from them.
