Cold after cold after cold

AIBU to think that this winter has been the worst for having colds and respiratory viruses? My dc have had colds every 2-4 weeks since November and DH and I every 4-6 weeks.

I hear people out and about with the worst chesty coughs and every other person seems to have a nasty cold or recovering from one.

So AIBU to think this winter is worse or is it just the same as most pre-covid winter seasons?

Is it going to get better in spring and summer? My dc have missed so much school as hey have had temperatures or simply being very run down with streaming noses etc.. This despite eating a reasonably varied and healthy diet. So fed up.

Covid causes temporary immune suppression. It makes people vulnerable to other pathogens.

I'm not sure they know it's temporary yet, but anyone that thinks covid is anything to worry about gets yelled at here.

Oh do fuck off with your stupid comment @JustAGirlInACountrySong Hmm

Literally wish all the posters like this on MN would fuck off. The whole forum is blighted by people with nothing better to do than post than post irrelevant shitty comments that bring nothing to the discussion.

anyway I agree OP it’s been relentless with one virus after another this year.

I've never had covid despite working in the nHS, never had a cold or flu. I was just feeling smug about it when I had a heart attack so meh 😑

There's been at least three different threads this week saying the same as you, "why am I always sick?" It's most probably the fact that everyone has been infected with COVID, and in many cases reinfected. It's been proven to damage your immune system, so you will be more susceptible to catching everything else going.

What can you do about it? Try and mitigate risk. HEPA filters, ventilation, wear a mask (a proper N95), so you don't catch airborne viruses. Davos had HEPA and ventilation and daily PCR tests and masking. Westminster has installed air filtration. If the rich and powerful know that covid requires these mitigations, us ordinary civilians should be demanding the same in our workplaces.

Our bodies need time to recover from infection, being constantly exposed to everyone else's illness won't help.

Take probiotics because covid can linger in your gut.

@humpty74 it's depressing and frightening. What are we doing to our children letting them catch covid over and over and over....

🤣🤣🤣🤣 I wish she really would, every time the dafty pops up with an idiotic response.

In answer to your post. Yep, same here with colds and various things one after the other. I think I will try the Vicks first defense as mentioned further up.
