Earache after cold - any remedy suggestions?

I had quite a heavy cold last week and I’ve been left with earache / headache that isn’t clearing. I’ve taken nurofen and steamed my face a couple of times, that temporarily clears it but then it comes back. This is the third day of it, any tips of anything I should try or do I just need to be patient?!

Something hot against the ear used to help when I had an ear infection.

If it doesn’t clear in a few days you might need to contact your GP for some antibiotic ear spray.

Thank you for your replies, I’m going to pop to the pharmacy later and see if they can advise on how long I should leave it to see if it clears. It’s not horrendous but it’s noticeable if that makes sense!

Sudafed?

Is that specifically the ears @MatildaTheCat or sinuses on general? It sort of feels like my sinuses are blocked a little

It’s a decongestant so can help all congested areas. Friend used to suffer terribly with her ears when flying and always took Sudafed first which really helped.

Antihistamine

Sinus exercises on YouTube should help clear them and your ear. Also lie flat on the floor and tilt your neck back slightly. Wait 5/10 mins. That should clear them also. Have you tried a little spot of vicks/olbus oil on your neck to help clear.

Good luck and I hope you get better soon op. I get Sinus/ear issues frequently they are a pain.

Sorry forgot to say aspirin is good at shifting the pain and a hot water bottle.
