Car dented over night, what do I do?

I have had my car since August 2022, I never had a car before this.

It is parked in the street. Most if the houses in my street don't have off street parking so park on the road too.

I woke up this morning and here is a dent in the side. I have no idea who did it. It is not a massive dent and I can still drive the car etc.

Do I contact insurance, would this increase my insurance? Or should I just pay to get it fixed?

If it isn't a massive dent I'd consider just living with it.
Claiming on insurance will just up your premiums, and if it is cosmetic it doesn't really matter.
Plus it may happen again anyway.
You could ask a garage to quote to see how much it would be and go from there.

I’d get a quote from a body shop. Then take into account how expensive your excess/rising insurance cost would be. Pick the cheapest option (probably body shop if it’s not bad)

It depends on the value of the car and how noticible the dent. Some dents are quite easy to fix by companies like dent magician if there's no paint damage or scoring on the metal for example, sometimes they can be popped out. Scratches and scuffs can sometimes be quite easily be rubbed out with something like T cut.
It's a problem of parking on the street unfortunately, but it could happen anywhere while parked, not just outside your home...maybe get a quote?
