For not collecting parcels straight away

I occasionally buy clothes on vinted and when buying them I opt to have them delivered to my local Evri parcel stop or the In-Post lockers a bit further down. You have 48 hours to collect from In-post locations and something like 5 days at the Evri locations.

My two orders arrived at both Evri and In-post this afternoon whilst I was out with family and shortly after I got the notification saying they were available for collection one of the sellers messaged me asking me to leave feedback. I explained that I haven't collect the item yet and would do so once I have.

I get home gone 8pm and decide I'll just pick them both up in the morning as I'm tired and don't want to go back out, have to get the kids ready for bed etc.

I then get a message from the other seller, so not the one who messaged earlier, asking me to collect the parcel ASAP as they need the funds to be released.

Am I the unreasonable one for not collecting immediately or is it a bit cheeky/pushy to rush me along?

I think up to 24, even 48 hours is fair enough. Parcels tend to arrive here about 3pm after I've already gone home, unless I'm going out for another reason I tend to collect the following day after work, I don't think that's slow

WhileMyGuitarGentlyWeeps · 15/02/2023 22:03

YANBU. How cheeky, demanding you put feedback when the package is not even in your hands now. I wouldn't leave it at all TBH.

GoodChat · 15/02/2023 22:03

If they don't get their money until you have the parcel I can understand why they want it collected but you're under no obligation to collect them immediately

Sunshineandrainbow · 15/02/2023 22:06

I didn't know about the funds bit.
I feel bad now for not collecting mine.

MelchiorsMistress · 15/02/2023 22:06

I think when you know you’re buying from an individual rather than a business on a site like vinted then it’s courteous to pick things up promptly but they are crazy to start messaging you before it’s even been a day.

PrimrosesandPears · 15/02/2023 22:10

I try to be prompt with vinted but I don’t think either buyers or sellers should use it when the item or money is needed super quickly. Sellers have a week to post and buyers have 2 days after collecting to review and pay - plus potentially a bit of a wait to collect as you have found. The seller is being unrealistic.

plumduck · 15/02/2023 22:11

2-3 days is fine. Especially if they've taken their time to post it to you.

Greatdays · 15/02/2023 22:11

I felt guilty when I got the second message tonight and was considering asking DP to go out and get them for me. It's typical that the one time I don't go and collect them straight away the sellers are in a rush for me to 🙈

Vinted sellers do not get funds released until parcel is confirmed by buyer as arrived without a problem. With most other retailers I think collect when you want but with Vinted I’d make an effort to collect and confirm asap

Deathbyfluffy · 15/02/2023 22:13

Their money issues aren’t your problem - you’re not being unreasonable at all.

pasturesgreen · 15/02/2023 22:18

Very cheeky of the sellers, I'd be annoyed.
I use Vinted a lot, both to buy and sell: while it's true that funds aren't released until after the parcel is collected, I never, ever expect it to be picked up immediately.
It's available for x days, totally up to the buyer when they go pick it up (sometimes they don't and it gets returned, annoying but not a major deal, I certainly wouldn't dream of messaging the buyer to chase it up).

Blablablablaba · 15/02/2023 22:19

I pick up when convenient for me but usually within a day or 2. Especially when they often take 4-5 days to post it, I think they can't be that desperate for the money then or they'd have posted quicker!

It is a bit cheeky of them to msg u especially on the day it's arrived! I'd be tempted to say Ul pick it up when ur passing it in the next couple of days or ignore them!

RaininSummer · 15/02/2023 22:20

It is a bit annoying to be hassled like that. I had a parcel trapped in a neighbour's house for two days last week as kept missing them.

elevenplusdilemma · 15/02/2023 22:21

I live rurally and nearest Evri store / InPost locker is an 8-mile round trip. I will collect when I'm next heading that way. Could be the same day, might not be for 2-3 days.

MrNook · 15/02/2023 22:23

YANBU, I hate pushy sellers like this, it's so rude! I've had messages asking when I'm going to collect within an hour of it arriving before

I sell a lot on Vinted and if someone hasn't collected after 6/7 days I'll let them know the parcels arrived in case they've forgotten/didn't realise

MrNook · 15/02/2023 22:24

Yeah the seller doesn't get funds released until you've collected the parcel and then clicked the " everything is ok " button.

If you have something delivered/collect something and the Vinted app changes to delivered, you still need to click everything is ok or they have to wait 48 hours for the money

Sunnydays0101 · 15/02/2023 22:25

It may seem as if the sellers are being pushy but very often here if a poster says they have no money/can’t buy food, advice is to sell something if they can. Maybe these sellers urgently need the money for essentials and are depending on the money being released to them.

MagicCat83 · 15/02/2023 22:31

So the idea is that the driver drops the parcels off at at a locker so you can collect at your own convenience, but you get harassed until you do? Doesn't sound very convenient.

Anyway, if people beg for feedback, I rate them poorly. Thems the rules!

eatsleeprepeat123 · 15/02/2023 22:32

I think collecting within a day or 2 is fine! We all have lives and the sellers can't expect you to go out as soon as you get the notification that it's arrived!

You could have work/kids to sort/not have your car to pick up or whatever!

I think anything more than a couple of days is a little unfair on the seller - but doesn't sound like you leave it that long anyway.

I'd be inclined to not mark everything is ok for an extra day once you have collected - but that's just me 😂

Greatdays · 15/02/2023 23:16

I'm glad that the general consensus is that I'm not BU. I do have sympathy if the seller needs the funds released and will be sure to collect them tomorrow morning as planned, I just think it's a bit crap to put pressure on like that when its only been sat there a few hours. It's a bit awkward 😐
