What to do about hotel?

Booked a hotel last minute for last few days of half term. It doesn’t have a reception but says that you will be emailed remote check in on instructions. Not had an email. Phone going straight to voicemail. Worried I’m going to get there and not be able to get into hotel or room. What would you do? It was booked through Booking.com.

Contact booking.com?

I've never heard of a set up like this for a hotel

Ginisatonic · 15/02/2023 18:42

Message the hotel via booking.com

Dacadactyl · 15/02/2023 18:43

Go via booking.com. Contact their customer services to ask what's going on.

Has their email gone into your junk/spam folders ?

When are you booked in? Some companies will wait until 24 hours before check-in to contact you

Ducksinthebath · 15/02/2023 18:50

With this set up the code is normally provided very last minute to stop chancers coming early or passing it on. You might not hear until right up to check in time, based on my previous experience.

Pocketmonstie · 15/02/2023 18:56

Ah ok I will wait until tomorrow and then call Booking if I’ve still not heard anything. Hopefully they’d be able to sort it with hotel and we wouldn’t just be stranded!

I've had this and got the code the night before, but it was self catering not a hotel

I don’t trust booking.com
We took our grandchildren to London last summer to join the jubilee celebrations. Our accommodation was cancelled by booking.com with no alternative offered, just a refund. So there we were, stuck 100’s of miles from home with a return train ticket for Sunday and it was Thursday!
Would never use them again, we used to use them a lot!

Contact booking.com and get this resolved or get a refund now, don’t wait until you get there.

I had a similar one last year with rooms over a bar. For out of bar opening hours they had a key code on the side door, and the manager texted the details on the afternoon of arrival

This happened to me. Landed in New York and they'd cancelled the hotel while we were in the air!
