Cheese pasty debate

I left a cheese pasty out the fridge (shop bought, in a packet) for 8 hours yesterday after I bought it and then DP fridged it when he got home.

Now we're debating that I think it needs thrown out because it's been sat at room temperature for an entire day and DP thinks I'm absolutely ridiculous considering it's not meat and it's in a packet.

I need opinions and I actually hope AIBU because I'm really hungry for it.

Wouldn't cause me a second thought. In fact, if you posted it to me I'd STILL eat it, even if the posties were on strike and it took an extra day or two to get here🤣

I'd heat it first but I'd definitely eat it

It's completely and utterly fine. No different to eating something like a Danish pastry and people don't think twice about not storing those in the fridge.

You've just reminded me. My first job was in a bakery. Nothing was refrigerated. Meat pies, bridies, cheese and potato pies, cream cakes - all out at room temperature until they were sold. Never had a case of food poisoning.
