Just come across an honorary assistant psychologist job…they want someone to work 3 days a week, 9-5pm, for a minimum of 6 months UNPAID! Is it just me, or does this seem incredible in this day and age? It just feels like slave labour, like graduates are massively bing taken advantage of. 3 years Psychology BSc (£30k+ in debt) and then they have to work for 6 months unpaid to be able to get a job. This just feels so wrong. This and unpaid internships HAS to stop.
On the other hand if you don’t think there is anything wrong with it, isn’t it really discriminatory? Like they are obviously targeting
a) people desperate for a job
b)those rich enough to be able to go without income for 6 months
yabu - nothing wrong with unpaid internships/honorary positions
yanbu - it’s taking advantage of people, modern day slave labour
