Pushing into queues?

So I don't know if anyone's ever travelled on the national express but they can get really busy.
Anyway me and friend travelled yesterday and checked and it was a sold out coach.
We wanted to get seats together and got there 45 mins early.
We were at the front of the queue (but the coach had travelled from a city a hour away so passengers were already on the coach )
The bus pulled in and we stood to the side of the entrance gate and let passengers who were leaving the coach get through the gate.
The guy gets off the coach and two girls (early 20s) come from the opposite side and walk straight to the bus driver and show the tickets.

So I said "excuse me we are at the front of the queue and have Been waiting 45 mins-you can't just rock up and jump in front "
She smiled and said "oh well he has scanned our ticket now"
Surprise surprise they got the last two seats together.
We had to sit on two aisle seats
The two girls in front who pushed in decided to recline their seats -which meant even less leg room.

Aibu to be pissed off ?

They should get their passports revoked, monstrous behaviour

harrassedmumto3 · 14/02/2023 13:51

So annoying!

SleepingStandingUp · 14/02/2023 13:52

Well it's obv rude, no one is going to say yes that's the way to behave nicely. But we're the only two seats honestly behind these women or was it just so you could loudly complain all journey about not being able to sit next to each other?

Readeatcake · 14/02/2023 14:09

You can reserve seats for £2

assrons · 14/02/2023 14:24

Yeah we normally reserve seats but it was a last min booking due to train cancellation in our area so the option wasn't there.
We sat there because there wasn't many seat options left and my friends gets travel sick if she can't see out of the front windows -in the car she likes to sit in front as it helps her sickness

There will always be people who think that they don’t need to queue. They’re arseholes. Positive note, you actually got a seat. There is no guarantee you can sit together unfortunately.

some bus stops can feel like a cattle market at times.

Plumbear2 · 14/02/2023 15:02

Maybe the girls reserved their seats.

sunshinenroses · 14/02/2023 15:05

I think it's every man for himself in those situations. What is it with the British and queuing 😂

Needmorelego · 14/02/2023 15:07

What did the driver say when you complained?

Wakeywake · 14/02/2023 15:10

How do you know they weren't sitting in their reserved seats?

So they sat in two aisle seats that were in front of each of you and did the MN cardinal sun of reclining? So they weren't sat together either, the same as you and your friend?

It's ill-mannered and annoying, but I don't think there's anything you can do. Queues are a courtesy, there's nothing in the conditions of carriage to say place in a queue confers priority boarding/seating rights.
