I am a single mum to a 6 year old boy who is currently in process for an autism diagnosis. On sick leave at the moment, so I have a full week with my son and I would love to say I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not.

He is very highly sensitive. You can simply look at him, and he will go into a full tantrum, screaming and crying. Nothing keeps his interest for longer than ten minutes and he likes running around and being active, so I would try and take him out as much as possible to parks etc but now rain is forecast as well.

Even when we do go to parks, he will constantly run away, run out of gates and almost into roads. You literally can't take your eye off of him. I will give him 5/10 minutes warnings for leaving, but when the time comes he will throw himself on the ground screaming. He's up to my shoulders in height now, so not as simple as scooping him up like when he was little.

In the house, he runs mad. I'll try my best to set out activities - bake a cake, drawing, painting, arts - even watching the TV he can only concentrate on for ten minutes. We can't simply sit together and watch a kids movie or go to the cinema. He only seems content when bouncing off the sofas or screaming random noises around the house when running.

I have no idea how to approach this week, and I am just hoping it'll not be a bad week
