After 5 yrs of my family begging and asking me to move to Scotland to work in their business. I even have a letter of employment. I retired early, sold our house and most possessions. During this process - my father passed away, I had to re-home 2 cats, plus move during Covid. A few months after moving here - my family said their son’s girlfriend volunteered to work for them so there’s nothing for me to do. I almost had a breakdown. I gave up everything and moved from the US to Scotland to work for them. Now, they realise I worked in IT and could help them. Now they asked me to work. I’m just getting over the trauma of moving here and them saying they didn’t need me. Am I unreasonable to decline? I’m still angry and don’t trust them. I was also given 2 other excuses why I’m not working for them. Am I being unreasonable to decline the job? I’ve now been retired for over 2 years.
