Hi all

i got a positive pregnancy test 3 or so weeks ago, I took the 6 day early one as we were trying, I however know I ovulated late, I think week 3of my cycle. I then got this confirmed by a doctor two weeks ago almost, they told me 4-5 weeks. So I thought I was 7 weeks as of yesterday

last night I got pink spotting when wiping, today I have a bad backache with bright blood when wiping and tiny clots on the paper. I got referred for a scan, he said I have a sac which looks very healthy around it saying a pregnancy but I can’t see anything in the sac, he measured it and said it’s 5 weeks 2 days and this is a typical scan for that date... I very confused went back to doc and got another blood test and will see tomorrow if Hcg has risen since first test, otherwise miscarriage I’m guessing.

im pretty devastated, has anyone had a similar experience? I don’t know what the bleeding and tiny clots could be if it’s not MC, I also expected to see an embreyo since my positive pregnancy test was a month ago. Looking for some hope.

I've had 6 miscarriages and 2 babies, up until my eldest I'd had 5 losses, early scans always measured a few days behind and bleeding then with my son were bang on and no bleeding.

I'd another loss afte rhim and then got pregnant with my daughter, started bleeding at 6 weeks, went for scan measured a few days behind, was sure I was losing but put on bedrest for 3 weeks and went back expecting to have lost her, instead 9 week baby with heartbeat. I was flabbergasted.

So it can go either way, I hope it's positive for you.

I'm so sorry you're going through this OP. If you had a positive 3 weeks ago then most likely this is a MC as it wouldn't have been positive at 2 weeks (usually earliest you can get a positive is around 9dpo, which is around 3+2, and at 6 weeks plus I think you would at least see a fetal pole).

Sounds like a blighted ovum. I had one of these a year ago, but my body didn't notice it so I didn't find out until a scan at 9 weeks. It was so heartbreaking.

Sending you hugs and love.

Did you scan like normal with the sac? The sac measured 5 weeks 3 days so either timing off and I’m just randomly bleeding with bad back pain or it’s a MC. I’m in denial clearly it is :( thank you

As far as I know, the sac can be empty at 5w2. I don't think, based only on this info that this is a miscarriage. best of luck, OP!!

Ohhh, I just read about the positive 2 weeks ago. Fingers crossed for you!

I would say a MC is looking likely and I would try and prepare myself for that.
I hope it isn't though, good luck.

Thanks everyone

im passing bigger bleeding clots now and bleeding heavy so I’m now grieving and know it’s a MC

Yes, my sac was completely normal for a 5w3d embryo when I should have been 8 weeks, then another scan at 9 weeks with no growth confirmed MMC. I looked into it like mad and unfortunately it's common for blighted ovums to go like this. Really sorry OP xx
