Follow on from 'pj wearing school runner'...what about people who get ready for bed at 4pm and spend evening in pj's and dressing gown?

I have a neighbour who does just this.

It is bizarre, more so in the summer when the evenings are longer and she can be seen, white dressing gown-clad in the living room window, or at front door, or outside house putting bin out, or down the road at ice cream van.

The worst one was when a car pulled up and she got in it...wearing said pj's and dressing gown....and shoes!

I love getting into my p.js once it hints as being dark - so later in the summer. No-one is coming round and i like to feel comfy and relaxed at the end of the day. I like to do my cleaning in me nightwear too although this was slightly embarressing when it consisted of pink slip with short dressing gown (not me usual choice) last week and quickly opened front door to clean it and lovely looking neighbour walked past and said morning - cringe!

30 pairs of pyjamas??!! Why!?

Nowt wrong with feeling relaxed at home.Am always straight into pyjamas after work. I used to go to Spar in them for wine when we lived in the centre of town too.

NoBiggy · 08/02/2008 21:27

Personally, I like to be fully clothed and ready to spring into action until late into the night. Imagine if I was in Pjs at 4pm, then at 6 the house burned down. I'd be stood out in the street in the early evening in my night attire looking foolish.

No, it's not for me.

Anna8888 · 08/02/2008 21:29

I don't own a pair of pyjamas - or any kind of sleepwear .

But I do hang around in my bathrobe. Like this evening - I had a bath at around 6pm - I didn't bother getting dressed again and in fact sent all the children to have a bath/shower before supper, which we were going to have late (8.30pm) when their father got in.

ilovecake · 08/02/2008 21:43

NoBiggy - surely if your house was burning down your attire would be the last of your worries?

I am sure my neighbours have seen me looking pretty ridiculous at various times

NoBiggy · 08/02/2008 21:48

Oh I don't know - I'd like to think that if I'd lost all my worldly goods and was homeless at least I had some serviceable clothes on and some proper stout shoes.

guggie · 08/02/2008 21:53

i often get into my pj's at around 5ish if im not going out that eve. my clothes start getting all uncomfortable so i feel much more relaxed in my jarmies.

also, i change ds straight from his school uniform into his pj's at 4ish if he's not going to one of his after school clubs.

LovesCats · 09/02/2008 00:38

NoBiggy, not sure if I am finding you funny cos I have consumed alcohol, or because you simply are, but 'night attire' and 'stout shoes' have made me pee myself, I think you are hilarious

Thank you!

anniebear · 09/02/2008 07:29

they are comfty arent they

wouldnt go outside in them though!!!

ibelieveindreaming · 09/02/2008 07:33

If I'm staying in I sometimes put my pj's on when I get in from work, much more comfortable to relax in than work clothes.

I don't oftne hang around in my pj's for me personally it makes me feel sluggish getting dressed spurs me into action. I do however have "house clothes" tracky bottoms whatever and if I am finding my clthes uncomfortable or if I am not going anywhere I put them on.

Kids quite often stay in jammies until we need to go anywhere though, in fact when I do get clothes out for dd she always asks where we are going outside she knows getting clothes on generally means we are going somwhere soon.

I went out to empty my vacuum into the bin one day in my jammies and my neighbour walked passed as she ahd done the once before I had done it. It is common practice around here to hang washing, go to ice cream van, collect/put out bin in pj's. In fact I regularly see my next door neighbour in her robe hanging washing with her hair dye on her head as well.

OOOH lol, there's a new thread :

"Am I being unreasonable to go to Tescos in my pj's with my dressing gown on and hair dye on my head" lol

SheikYerbouti · 09/02/2008 11:50

I come home from work and get sytrainght into my gimp suit

OLDroot · 09/02/2008 11:54

I wear my dresing gown - over slouchy things when I have finished the running around stuff.

People often come over to find me in my dressing gown

Love it
