I’ve got an interview - my first in about 7-8years, have been SAHM for 6 years. It’s only a part time school admin job which I know I could do well, but I’m feeling completely unprepared and nervous and worried I’m either going to waffle on or go blank.
Does anyone fancy helping me out with ideas of questions they’re likely to ask me/good answers I could give please?!
I really do need to get this job, we’re literally just about surviving on one wage especially with the cost of living etc now, so would really appreciate some help!
Thankyou in advance to anyone who replies!

Have you done your research on the school, their motto, what they offer etc?

babynoname22 · 07/02/2023 19:42

Tell me about a time you had to del with something difficult

Tell me about something you are proud of

Time me how you manage your time.

Tell me how you prioritise things

What's your biggest achievement

How would your colleagues describe you

Starrt · 07/02/2023 19:42

You'd be safe to expect:

What do you know about the school.

Why have you applied for the role.

What is you're favourite/least favourite aspect of your current/most recent job.

Tell us about a time you had to correct someone in a more senior role.

How would you deal with a difficult colleague/upset parent. Etc (role dependent)

If you made a mistake in your work what would you do.

What would you do if you encountered an upset child at school.

If there's an interview task I'd expect basic excel (role dependent) or maybe an email/letter to draft.

I'd expect a question about safeguarding.

Read their policy on the website, know who their dsl is. Infact, first find out what a dsl is.

What would you do if a child made a disclosure to you? (The answer is follow the policy, never deviate, never take matters into.your own hands, however much you think you are helping!)

Good luck

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/02/2023 19:48

What would you do if a child disclosed a potential safeguarding issue to you? (The school will have a designated safeguarding lead and a safeguarding policy so you would report it in line with the policy).

How would you manage confidential information?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/02/2023 19:49

As the cross post shows safeguarding is a probable question.

OhClunge · 07/02/2023 19:49

I'd expect an example of how something went wrong and what you did to correct it
A safeguarding question
if you didn't know something what would you do
What do you think you can bring to the school
What appealed to you about the position

marmitegirl01 · 07/02/2023 19:49

Absolutely safeguarding. That tops anything else if you have an intray type exercise.
good luck!

CornishYarg · 07/02/2023 19:52

Maybe something on data protection/confidentiality

thesandwich · 07/02/2023 19:53

Health and safety concerns as well in terms of prioritising- after safeguarding. Check out 5heir latest ofsted inspection

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/02/2023 19:58

If you want a quick overview of safeguarding just scan through pages 6-20 of this

I've sent you several PMs with the list of questions my workplace asks. It's higher education so a bit different but hopefully it helps. Apologies for the crap formatting. I was copying and pasting from a PDF because I couldn't see how to send the document.

Motorina · 07/02/2023 21:46

The thing that always catches me out in interviews is the generic opener. "Tell us a bit about yourself/your career to date/why you want this job".
