Question about Instagram (light-hearted-ish)

Could anyone please tell me, if you watch a video that someone has put on IG, does that person get a notification that you've watched it, with your own user account name mentioned? please tell me that they don't 🙏

Stories, yes. It'll tell them who has viewed it. Your Instagram handle.

Reels etc no.

They can see the usernames of the people who have watched the video, yes. Sorry!

Sorry, I'm not sure what's meant by feed or stories? Their IG is a mix of still pics and video reels?

Stories, appear over their profile pic, you have to click to view it.

The main feed is where photos/videos are.

If it’s in your feed (the bit you scroll down) then they won’t know if you’ve watched it.

Stories are the circles along the top bar of Instagram, if you watch those then they’ll be able to see that.

If it is on their main Instagram feed then no, they can't see who watched it or how many times an individual person watched it. They can only see how many times it's been watched in total. If it is a story (so you need to click on their profile picture to see it and it disappears after 24hrs) then they can see that you've seen it, but not how many times.

Did you watch the video from your home page, a little circle at the top, on the far left page with a house icon? If so, yes that is a story and they will be able to see the handle of who has viewed it. They won't get notified if you've watched more than once.

If it was a "feed post", you can find this by going onto their page (search on the second tab with the magnifying glass icon). It will be in a square at the bottom rather than a circle where their profile photo would be, no they cannot see this.

Ah, I think I understand now, no, it isn't one of their stories, so I should (hopefully) be okay. 🤞Thanks for the replies. 👍🙂
