To think Netflix offerings are poor?

I seem to have watched everything worth watching on Netflix. Now all I see is films and programmes that are just junky. Even scrolling through New on Netflix shows only dross. And they do not have many classic films, so there is not even that option to fall back on.
Netflix subscribers have fallen because the offering is so poor.

New series of The Witcher, Shadow and Bone, and You are all due out at some point.

I’ve just finished Viking’s of Valhalla which is decent.

The 2 Enola Holmes film are watchable, as are the 2 Knives Out films.

I can't say I've every struggled to find anything to watch to be honest and think for the price we pay it's excellent value for how many box sets and films we can access.

If you can't find anything then cancel but I can't think of another service except disney + which is as good in terms of value for money.

Bubblebubblebah · 06/02/2023 14:15

Ioved onto East Asian series. Some are really really good

thebellagio · 06/02/2023 14:16

It depends on what you like to watch.

I love the real trash (love is blind, 2 hot to handle, cocktail masters) so I'm enjoying that content. I also think that Netflix are the only streaming service to create enjoyable 'blockbuster' movies - the types that are critically a bit crap but as a viewer are seriously entertaining (such as Red Notice).

I think the fact is that for years Netflix were the only ones making any good original content (e.g. the crown, OITNB) but the other streamers have caught up (and potentially overtaken).

At the end of the day its a rolling subscription, so you can always cancel and re-sign up at a later date. It's not like you're tied into a year.

I'm personally loving the content on Apple+ at the moment. I personally like 20-30 min comedies and sitcoms, and the likes of Shrinking, Mythic Quest, Loot, and Ted Lasso are all great.

UWhatNow · 06/02/2023 14:17

I think it’s still better and more interesting and a more varied choice of watchable dramas and documentaries than any of the other subscription channels.

Fluffygreenslippers · 06/02/2023 14:19

They used to offer great content but they’ve definitely fallen off.
I recently got a sub to Now tv to watch the last of us and I’m impressed with the content. Will likely cancel Netflix soon & Disney + after I’ve seen Mando season 3.

NotAnotherBathBomb · 06/02/2023 14:19

I’ll be cancelling my subscription when they bring in the ban on password sharing which, despite not sharing my password, would affect me and make using it more if a faff eg having to sign in every 30 days and complicating watching stuff on my tablet outside of my home like when I’m visiting friends/family and travelling abroad.

Hobbesmanc · 06/02/2023 14:20

There's some good international drama if you are ok with subtitles or dubbing. Loved Young Royals and Smiley.

WalkAwaySugarbear · 06/02/2023 14:22

That's what I like about Netflix, easy to cancel and pick up again months later when it has more to offer.

Pinkglittery · 06/02/2023 14:23

I've just cancelled Netflix and got a really good offer on Now tv so we have switched to that for a while. I find it best to swap them every so often and then you can watch all the stuff that came out in the past six months.

RustySprings · 06/02/2023 14:30

I cancelled my Netflix subscription last October because I felt the same, after I had let it roll on month by month for years. (I originally signed up years ago for Breaking Bad.)
Now I just hop around the streamers - a month here, a trial period there - watch what I want to watch ( binge!) and cancel again.
I'll probably do a Netflix month again soon just to see the last series of The Crown and then stop it again. There's nothing else on it I fancy these days.
For me - the best 2 streamers have been Apple TV and Disney+ in recent months for good dramas & comedies.

AllOutofEverything · 06/02/2023 14:31

I might switch to NOW TV instead.
I am not keen on subtitles and I agree there is a lot of things that look good with subtitles. But I turn over as soon as I see them.

I totally agree- Apple TV Plus has less, but far batter quality, content.

RustySprings · 06/02/2023 14:33

I'm waiting for the return of Succession before I hop back onto Now TV!

AllOutofEverything · 06/02/2023 14:34

I think the problem is a lot of what Netflix now show is their own created content rather than buying the best from elsewhere. They have made some good content, but a lot of it is dross.

I agree with you @AllOutofEverything .

AllOutofEverything · 06/02/2023 14:36

I also get fed up that Netflix keeps recommending things I have already watched. What is the point of profiles if you just keep recommending something I have already watched a while ago.

Netflix has never had enough content for me to watch in the UK ever. I just subscribe as and when there is something I want to watch - probably once every two years or so. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I guess it all depends on what you want to watch

confusednewbie · 06/02/2023 14:38

You have to also remember we are seeing the impact of the covid lockdowns as there is a lot of impact due to what could be filmed and produced during these times

Walkinginthesand · 06/02/2023 14:38

I’d have cancelled my Netflix subscription ages ago but I do find an episode of Friends sends me off to sleep a treat.

PoseyFlump · 06/02/2023 14:39

The last few weeks a lot of the 'new' added stuff is years old and we've already seen it on other platforms. We're finding it hard to find anything we are interested in.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/02/2023 14:39

We swap around what we're subscribed to - we've got prime anyway (wouldn't bother if it wasn't part of the Amazon deal), use iPlayer quite a bit then have eg Netflix or BritBox but not both at once. We also have a Wondrium subscription at the moment which is good if you like that sort of thing (our Xmas tv with 24yo DD home was mostly 'Epic engineering failures'Grin)

Littlemountainhum · 06/02/2023 14:39

I keep Netflix for my son because it’s easy/safe for him to have free reign of the kids stuff, but I feel too old for most of Netflix tbh and would have cancelled otherwise - with the exception of The Crown and a few good (older?!) films I find their newer/homemade stuff tends to push a bit of a ‘woke’ agenda, and caters for a pretty young adult audience e.g. Bridgerton.

My DP said this is the reason why too.

AllOutofEverything · 06/02/2023 14:42

But nearly everything is produced by Netflix. They just need to buy in good content from elsewhere. There are other options now.
