Someone hit my parked car

Hi

somebody has hit my parked car and drove off. It’s scraped and dented on the passenger side and wing mirror broke off. Plastic from their rear lights was on the floor. What next step shall I take as my neighbours heard nothing and no note was left. I only recently got the car and my car insurance policy is new.

Do you have a dashcam? Someone hit ours when it was parked and the impact made the cam start recording. We got a license plate and the police contacted her giving her our details so she could get in touch. She paid for all the damage, thankfully.

If not then contact a garage and get a price for repair, if it’s not too expensive it may be best to just pay. If you contact insurance and go through them it will impact your premiums but I appreciate if it’s too expensive that may be what you need to do.

I don't think you can do anything unless any of your neighbours have cameras.
It's probably a choice of paying for it yourself or going through insurance. Sorry this has happened to you.

Check whether any neighbours have security cameras too, OP. A friend of mine had her garden wall demolished while she was out. CCTV showed an idiot trying to reverse a horsebox and then driving away- she got the details and the driver chose to pay up to keep their no claims. Friend’s builder promptly doubled the wall repair estimate. Grin
