Matched betting

AIBU for considering matched betting as a way to get a bit more extra cash?

I’ve seen it mentioned on here quite a few times but would have no idea where to start.

Can anyone with a bit more experience tell me how much you can make on average, plus some good sites to get started?

If you go on Money topic there are always threads running with good info about this

IamSmarticus · 05/02/2023 10:49

There are loads of threads on this, do a search and read through some.

You can make money, me and DP made about 8K each over roughly 2 years.

Have a look at the Oddsmonkey or Team Profit websites.

Thanks both!

I tried it in lockdown and completely forgot about it again until now (I’m on maternity leave)
I used the same website I used the first time around.
outplayed.com

they have step by step videos that are VERY simple to understand.
I would suggest watching the videos on your phone and getting a laptop/tablet to follow along or it can get confusing switching between the two on one screen.

The videos are short and simple but I’d recommend watching them thoroughly and double/triple check everything you do.

You can make good money but you can make easy mistakes, so don’t rush anything.

Sounds super confusing but I promise once you watch those videos, it will all make sense! Hope this helps 😊

I did matched betting for years, and made quite a few thousand out of it, but the offers have decreased now so be realistic in your expectations. It's best if you don't have a tendency to gamble anyway, because you have to approach it with quite a methodical attitude and not get swayed by the temptation to just stick a straight bet on instead of a matched one.

I used what is now called Outplayed but I do find it very expensive now. They do teach it all very well so once you know what to do there's other sites like Matched Betting Blog which lists offers but doesn't hold your hand step by step and is free. I think some of the sites have Black Friday sign up offers around now, I've definitely had emails from Oddsmonkey about theirs.

Ignore the post above by Arohi12 as not only does it read like some sort of AI spam, but the 'I love betting' thing is a red flag - matched betting isn't gambling-betting, it's using bets in a logical way to exploit bookie bonuses. Also I've looked up the link they mentioned and I wouldn't touch that exchange. Maybe it will turn out to be genuine, but you end up keeping quite a bit of money in exchanges, so stick to well known ones like Smarkets and Betfair.

I'm doing it very basically but religiously at the moment through maternity leave. I easily make £300/month by doing the most straightforward offers, taking about 20m a day.

I don't recommend asking for a description or advice. It's hard to get your head around through words. Just watch the Team Profit videos, and even do the real sums on paper until you understand the principles.

Yes, it's less money than it was, but it's also a hearty chunk of household bills, tax free. I recommend it, definitely if you're not into sport - my husband and his friends get awfully distracted by that when I tell them about it.

Never such an obvious sales pitch! 🙄

this whole thread will degenerate into various online platform bots and other AI fuelled people , giving their sales pitch for their platform .

OP I'm looking into too. I've been having a look at some tutorials on YouTube, some easier to follow than others. Think I'm going to give it a month of watching videos and then have a go. You do need to start off with money though, I thought it would be £5 in and then free money from there in. No you need a little more than that- every days a school day as they say! But seems interesting. I'm going to have a read up on here now a pp mentioned there's lots of threads about it.

I made £14k in a year from matched betting.
The problem with it I found is that I started getting gubbed (they realised I was a matched bettor and wouldn’t allow me to take part in any promotions) at every bookmakers.
It’s a short lived money maker, but it most definitely works and really helped me out in the year I was doing it.
I signed up to Oddsmonkey.
They had instructive videos and all the calculators needed. They also had a forum where other members will help and support you.
I found it really easy to do once I got going and I’m crap with numbers!!!

Pocket Bet is an easy site to lay bets too
