Husband / Arse

What would you do? Your partner / other half / husband is in his 40’s. Says he’s going to the pub ‘for a couple’. Takes the car. You express your concern that he’s going to drive home as he has form for driving when he’s drunk in the past but you’ve never said anything (against your better judgement).

You’ve been together 10+ years, for kids. Done majority of the kids work, still full time working, doing all the house shit that needs doings. My poor babies, I feel like they deserve better than this.

But I’m unreasonable. A nag. Getting on at him. I’m a moose, ugly. Should be grateful to have him.

Fucking REALLY?!?!?! I feel like this is it. I’ve had it too many times. So many times it’s been ‘oh it was a one off, I just needed to let my hair down’. I can’t anymore. I’m on hold to the police now.

Went outside and he’s asleep in
The car. Won’t remember this tomorrow. It’ll be my fault. Honestly 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

He doesn't need to know you called police. Surely "they followed him home" or he was reported by an anonymous pub goer. Better for you he doesn't know you called. But yeah he's an irresponsible arsehole driving after even a couple. And you are no nagging moose. You're a responsible adult who is tired of this shit- and that's fair enough. Hope you have a peaceful day tomorrow x

You can still call the police and they can still do him for being impaired & in control of a vehicle. He will lose his license.

forfucksakejanet · 04/02/2023 00:44

Thank you. I gave up after 20 mins on hold. It's just a shite state of affairs.

He drives for a living as well 🤦‍♀️

Well I think you need to leave. One less person to keep you down and less work all round .

By all means call the police but that will leave him without any means to live as he’s unlikely to get housed.

Nimbostratus100 · 04/02/2023 00:46

get back on to the police.

Why would it not be worth waiting on hold? he could kill someone

toomuchlaundry · 04/02/2023 00:48

Keep on to the police

EndOfEternity · 04/02/2023 00:53

Good for you trying to get the police involved.
If he drunk drives again please ring them. He may lose his license, BUT you may be saving other people’s lives!
Too many people have their lives wrecked by selfish people who drink drive or texting at the wheel.

Lysianthus · 04/02/2023 01:01

Get back on to the police. So sorry for your kids and you. Stay strong, keep those feelings. Don't stay with him, unless, well, err, unless you'd be homeless and even then, get some help via women's refuge or local council. Or even Shelter. Good luck Flowers

ErrolTheDragon · 04/02/2023 01:04

Well I think you need to leave.

I think he needs to leave.

BreviloquentBastard · 04/02/2023 01:08

My niece was killed by a drunk driver. Everyone thinks it won't happen to them until it does. She was alone and scared and in pain in her final moments, 17 years old.

Tell your husband from that he's a cunt.

unsync · 04/02/2023 01:13

I'm going to take a wild guess that this is the tip of the iceberg. Does he actually bring anything positive to the table because it seems to me that you could ask him to leave and you would be better off.

Cornelious2011 · 04/02/2023 01:22

It all sounds really shit. Leave him

FlowerArranger · 04/02/2023 01:32

I understand that you want to stop him from drinking, but you need to put on your oxygen mask first, @forfucksakejanet , and find a way to leave him.

No point staying for the kids. It is not in their interest to grow up in such a dysfunctional environment.

Deathbyfluffy · 04/02/2023 01:33

999 it as he’s still drunk in charge - they’ll come round and arrest him.
A close family member of mine was killed by a drunk driver returning home from the pub.
