Anxiety is ruining my weekends… tips please

I’m feeling really frustrated, I seem to be catching lurgy after lurgy this winter and it’s really not helping my anxiety. It gets to the weekend and I feel I need to be making an effort to see people, be out doing fun things but I just feel drained and then my anxiety gets worse, it’s a cycle. I don’t know if I’m péri menopausal or if it’s just normal anxiety but I just want to feel energetic again and for the anxiety to go. Any tips on natural remedies that have worked for you?

Nothing helps bat down anxiety like a brisk walk. Over the years I’d hear this on tv etc and think it was nonsense.

Well one day out of sheer desperation I had to do it as a last resort. It was a game changer.

These walks are a life saver for me. Go out when the sun is shining, listen to the radio or podcast. I’ll guarantee you’ll feel energised afterwards!!!

you may do or do not do these things but my tips are:

Quit alcohol if you drink.
Cut down on caffeine.
Excercise every day in the fresh air.
Cut down on sugar and have a great diet - food can massively impact mood.
Sleep - for me if I don’t get enough sleep it all goes to pot even if I do the other things.

Do you want to? Or do you feel that you should want to?

Start small. Meet a friend for coffee, walk in the park if sunny. Tell yourself it's only [2] hours out of 48. There's [46] other hours to do nothing in.

Also - I read this somewhere and I do it myself on the odd occasion, if you are feeling particularly anxious, have a bath or shower and start your day again even if it’s lunchtime 😂

I also find spending less time on my phone and watching a good series helps.

What are you anxious about?

Op Ashwagandha helps me, it's a nature antidepressant, lowering anxieties, balancing mood swings etc.

I think I’m mostly feeling anxious about work , and because I seem to be catching lots of bugs I feel I’m always fighting something off so I’m not feeling very energetic and that seems to be having a knock on impact on my anxiety.

Exercise (walking is free and can be done anytime, anywhere), a healthy diet (lots of fruit and veg, less meat and processed food) and a multivitamin supplement might help reduce the number of bugs you are getting and improve your anxiety.

Another vote for walking in nature here . I like the radio on because it's more company in a way finding out about the news and the upcoming eventualno rather than podcasts which I find more depressing. If that doesn't help maybe a few sesswith a phone counsellor? That helped my DH with his ? We just found one on Google that covered his issues .

It does help, I agree.

I have bastard anxiety; all I do is cry and it freezes me in sheer panic and fear.

When I can manage it, I go for a walk too.

Sometimes I cry when I walk and panic and other times I feel more calmer.

Try it though . And speak to your doctor and try to get some help.

Good luck x
