If wom*n is such a forbidden word?

Penis-haver
Testicle-owner
Adams-apple-adorned
Prostate-possessor

Surely what's good for the gander...?

Etymology isn't your strong suit, is it @MondayBob ?

😁

Yeah our local MVP has adopted this bullshit too. Except they omit women and instead favour "birthing people" 🤮

Yep - ours changed to 'Birthing People' and got some kickback, so announced they would use 'Women and Birthing People'. But have now erased all reference to women / mums etc and just refer to 'Service Users'.

Maybe it's how we stop the horrendous stats on UK Maternity. If we can't reference women and mums - we can't collect data. Then it will all just go away.

Moopsi · 02/02/2023 09:43

Surely birthing people includes male doctors and midwives?

Deadringer · 02/02/2023 09:44

Wankers

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 02/02/2023 09:45

I think this needs more sensitivity to the individual context.

In birthing environment or education or childcare setting, "ejaculator" would be appropriate.

In a board meeting or when reporting dangerous driving to the police, "dick swinger" or "dick compensator" might be better.

"Wanker" is a nice, inclusive term too.

comeondover · 02/02/2023 09:46

A small point of pedantry. 'Ejaculators' doesn't fit the bill because women can ejaculate too. We don't produce sperm, though. So how about sperm-producers, sperm-carriers, ooh - sperm-males?

cunderthunt1 · 02/02/2023 09:46

Sperm donors

Sperminators

AnnoyedFromSlough · 02/02/2023 09:53

I think there would be a backlash against sperm-males - from sperm-females...

Penis-People

I used this once when someone used the phrase ‘people who can get pregnant’. I nailed my colours to the mast and knocked that stupidity on the head. She started referring to ‘women’ after that.

I use this. Also a fan of alliteration.

Don't worry darlin', some women like em that small

CrazyCorgi · 02/02/2023 10:00

The trouble with ‘people with’ bollocks/penis/fore skin is that unless you specify that it needs to have been there from birth, the trans lot will just say ‘I’m a man, I’m a man’

Do you you the origin of the word hysteria Bob? I'm making an educated guess that you don't.

Here:

Etymology. From New Latin hysteria, a back-formation from Latin hystericus, from Ancient Greek ὑστερικός (husterikós, “suffering in the uterus, hysterical”), from ὑστέρα (hustéra, “womb”).
