Is this standard practice having a cleaner?

I posted last year about DW wanting a cleaner and I didn't.

Well today was the first day of us having a cleaner. We tidied the house beforehand. It wasn't dirty as we cleaned it last week but obviously I know cleaners will do a more thorough job, and a deeper clean.

We booked a cleaner.
It is 2 cleaners who come for 1 hour.
The fee is £30 for the 1 hour.

The cleaners have now messaged to say that they were here for 2.5 hours so the fee is £75.

Is that usual practice?

How do you deal with this leaving early? Where I am it’s impossible to get cleaners so I’ve tolerated wiping as opposed to cleaning, arriving late, leaving early. I keep with them as they’re “honest” but I feel like a mug. As you say there is always something to be wiped!

My cleaners have always done a deep clean at first, which then means they can maintain the place more easily.

I've always been happy to pay as I understand what they mean - it takes a lot longer the first time.

It depends if you were around when they arrived to ask. It does sound like they should have checked, but £30 for two cleaners is quite competitive round here. I would pay but say any additional hours in future would have to be agreed upfront.

What you call a deep clean and what we do im sure are miles apart. impossible to deep clean in 4 hours . it would take 2 just to wipe down all skirtings by hand and all woodwork and doors . inside windows and frames another few hours . thats just to start. like i said we are detailed. wooden blinds alone can take up to 6 hrs for the whole house done slat by slat by hand the only way to really do them properly .
we have a waiting list a large one as what we do is the best. thanks for your comment though . 😊
