Can she not get home after wards- as in you are too far away?
Has to be a hotel , is there anyone over 18 with her? Some hotels would insist on an 'adult' being the main contact for the booking

needmysleep · 30/01/2023 11:26

We are 2 hours away 🤔 she doesn't want me around and that would be expensive so I have no idea what to do. It's 2 nights too Confused

I’d be asking her what the plan is & how she’s going to pay for it!

Jijithecat · 30/01/2023 11:30

Are there any youth hostels they can stay in?

MarchingGiraffes · 30/01/2023 11:30

If she wants to go she can make her own arrangements. It’ll be good for her.

needmysleep · 30/01/2023 11:31

@SlipperyLizard exactly !! I did that and she said 'it will be fine. I'll sort it!!' 🙄 which I'm sure she won't, and it will become my problem
She seems to think there are youth hostels that take under 18s, God knows
I told her she should've asked me before she booked it because now I know it will become my problem !!

Gosh you need to back off and stop worrying, she will sort it. She's almost an adult!

It will only become your problem if you allow it to. If you’ve spent years jumping in and “saving” her than of course she isn’t going to bother sorting stuff herself because she knows you will.

Be clear if she wants to go she needs to organise it. If she doesn’t and comes to you, you just say “that’s a shame”. It doesn’t become your problem.

The Lee Valley YHA hostel in Cheshunt will allow them to book and stay unaccompanied at 17 and Cheshunt is easily reachable from Finsbury Park on the Victoria and Overground.

ComtesseDeSpair · 30/01/2023 11:42

Give her the link and let her get in with sorting it all.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 30/01/2023 11:42

Let her sort it herself!

From someone who went to Reading Festival with her mates aged 20 with nowhere booked because I assumed we would just stay up all night partying and then realising that not an option once there and it rained....we had an expensive taxi home as our lesson!

It seems like your DD knows what she is talking about. I'd leave her to it.

From the FAQs on the YHA website.
'You must be 16 or over to stay in YHA accommodation without an adult. If you are under 16, you can stay with YHA as long as you are travelling with an adult.'
