A few months ago I found a lump type thing on my chest in the middle level with my breast bone I can move it and it hurts if I'm messing with it a lot other than that it's painless, it's quite small and I don't think it's grown, I also found a pea size one on my knee that's now sore and moves around loads and very soft, anyone had these or any lumps what have ended up being nothing? Thanks ringing doctors tomorrow. I am quite chubby so could just be fat I'm unsure

I woke up one day with a lump in my groin. Turned out to be an infected lymph node that cleared up on its own in a few days.

Definitely have the GP check it out though (I did with mine)

poetryandwine · 29/01/2023 19:57

You must get your GP to check these, especially the breastbone lump. Statistically they are both probably benign. However DH is alive and well today because he saw the GP for a symptom that is usually no more than annoying, but in his case was a highly aggressive cancer (I will not be providing details). The NHS stepped up brilliantly and he had recently had an all clear (or as close as it will ever come).

Have you not seen those adverts on the television? Please do it, now.

Yes, I had a tender lump in my breast, size of a grape. All fine. Anecdotally, cancerous lumps are not typically painful. It’s easy for me to say but try not to worry.

Have you had any trauma to the area recently? I have a 3cm oval lump at the top of my left breast and just got the all clear yesterday after months of being too scared to have it checked. Ultrasound revealed it was a lipoma or fat necrosis probably as a result of trauma to the area. My 6 year old used to constantly elbow me there. Have it checked for your own peace of mind.

MerryBelle · 29/01/2023 20:51

@sukiwh i thought so too but now know that's not true. A painful lump can definitely be cancerous.

Perridot · 29/01/2023 21:02

Yes I have. It was pretty painful but thankfully it was benign and I had it removed. Really hope it’s good news for you.

Yes! I found quite a large (marble sized) lump in my breast on a Thursday evening.
I panicked all evening and phoned the doctor the next morning. Unfortunately they were a doctor off sick, and they asked if it was urgent and could I wait until the next week. I was trying to pretend that I was chilled and not worried at all, so I said "of course, no hurry at all, whenever there's space."
So they gave me an appointment for Tuesday.

I must have driven dh mad over the weekend asking him if it had grown. One minute I was convinced it was much bigger the next I wasn't sure.
On the Tuesday, I was in the waiting room, trying not to panic, and decided to go to the toilet and see if it had grown once more.
As I manipulated it, trying to decide if it was bigger, it burst. Large amount of gunk came out, and I came out of the toilet with toilet paper stuck down my bra to catch the gunk and to hear my name being called out.
I went into the doctor and just looked at her and all I could say was "sorry". She did laugh (quite nicely) at me and told me I'd done the right thing, and took a look and said all was fine. She also said not to let it put me off making an appointment for a lump again.

Hey I work in the hospital and I'm like 5ft so when I'm with a patient that area of my chest usually is leaning on the bed bar! Ouch I know, I try lower the beds more now😂 and I noticed it after that I also got kicked not long ago there too but guessing it's going to stay on my chest now it doesn't bother me unless am proper messing with it, praying it's nothing, thankyou for all your replies

The one on my knee isn't even pea size and not grown since one found it

I found a pea sized lump in my breast a few years ago and was really worried. I had it checked out and it turned out to be harmless (something called a fibroadenoma).
