Finances - blended families

following a thread it made me wonder how other blended families work out the house / living situation as well and finances
when either only one has previous children or both have previous children ?
Someone said they don’t think blended families can live with one another if finances are not equal in terms of income etc
do you believe this ?

we are a blended family
both have own children from previous relationship both with full custody, not sure if that makes it more unusual but we seem to just act like we would if all the kids were both of ours. Only thing that is Separate is one of us currently completely own the house.

I personally would work it like you are.

Are you married and which of you own the house?

carmenitapink · 29/01/2023 08:17

I think each having one child makes the situation more even v. if one of you had three and the other none

One party owning the house makes the the other vulnerable surely..

If things are working out for you, leave it alone. Don’t fix what’s not broken.

We are not married yet - I own the house but we are getting married but don’t worry I have made sure I am safe regarding the house. I owned the house before we met which is why we don’t yet own a house together.

Why are you getting married? I would not in this situation. The house will never be 100% protected for your children's future.

@bumpytrumpy I ensure you it is :)
