Severe headache. In agony

I've never had this before but I've been woken up by the worst headache. I'm in agony. I've taken painkillers and have an ice pack but it hurts so much. Please help

Where abouts is the pain OP all over or in a specific place

Also what painkillers did you take?

I find when I've got that kind of headache/migraine ibuprofen works better than paracetamol for me. Ibuprofen needs to be taken with food though. I also need to keep my forehead and neck warm.

Looking at a screen won't help.

If migraines are unusual for you, call 111. Might be worth A&E.

Do you have any other symptoms, like vomiting or sweating? I would seek medical attention if it is extraordinarily worse than you've ever experienced before.

Hope you’re feeling a bit better OP. Painkillers take an hour or so to kick in. Just lie still in a dark quiet room.
