To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

His posts with his wife are bordering on leach.

I read at the time that she left medicine because she wasn’t offered the residency she wanted. Considering how limited medical training places are I imagine the people who missed out on a place when she got hers are felt a tad bitter.

I don’t know why she left and yes, same as Brooklyn at Parsons, that place could have gone to someone who pursued the career. I only meant she studied something entirely different from the family genre and did actually stay the course and qualify.

Maybe though pp is right and BB’s maxing out on being hapless click bait and the joke’s actually on the public. That’ll only wash for a limited time and he’ll find it harder and harder to tread his own path.

Can someone also explain why Nicola Peltz married him?

I wonder what she saw in the millionaire Brooklyn Beckham

Her family are much richer

@TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl Peltz's parents are billionaires.

No idea given her parents wealth outstrips his by a massive margin.

It did come across as two young kids playing at being married, to me. And wanting the whole 'let's plan the most expensive wedding imaginable'

Hookin’ with Brooklyn

Could also be fishing. Brooklyn stands in a river in a pair of waders discussing the local perch population.

karamazing · 28/01/2023 14:59

I am also surprised that she married somebody like him. Her own siblings have some quite impressive achievements so she would not have automatically behaved like a nepo kid. I think that she was on the rebound from Anwar Hadid and saw him hooked up with Dua Lipa at the time. This made her want to compete and outdo her ex. It does not seem like a serious marriage though.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 28/01/2023 14:59

Whether you like them or not, DB and VB are extraordinarily successful and talented. VB was mega famous in the Spice Girls - it’s ridiculous and catty to say she’s untalented.

VB isn’t talented but she clearly worked hard with the Spice Girls.

DB was a good footballer but got the attention from doing things like dating a Spice Girl and poncing around in a sarong. He was ahead of his time in that he was a 90’s ‘influencer’ but his football career isn’t the legend people think it is. The majority of the England team now are better than Beckham - Phil Foden for example is streets ahead of where Beckham was at his age in terms of talent. And the best thing about the current England squad is - unlike their predecessors who flaunted their extreme wealth - they have humility and actually speak out against racism, and domestic violence, and poverty. Beckham’s generation of football (Rooney, Owen etc) had way too much self-interest and played as such which is why they never got very far in tournaments.

Another thought I’ve just had about him.

He could do the celebrity chef thing on you tube but more from a hapless nice lad learning to cook. He seems pleasant enough. That could be his angle. More presenter joining in and learning with a real chef. Having a bit of a laugh at himself.

But…he seems so serious and the lack of self awareness makes me feel a bit sad for him. However rich you are no body wants to be a joke.

He could turn this around in his favour.

Brooklyn if you are reading this PM me😉

Yes, what did an amazingly wealthy actress sadly failing to make the grade in Hollywood with only a Golden Raspberry for Worst Supporting Actress to show for her diminishing career, see in a naive and directionless younger man who had nothing to offer except his inexplicably magnetic appeal to tabloid journalists ……..

Imissmybabygirl · 28/01/2023 15:04

Rich kids jobs can be created no matter they have talent or not.

I don't feel sorry for him.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 28/01/2023 15:05

I'm only saying about Romeo that he hasn't given up simply because he couldn't start at top level. He's obviously not that super talented, may not even be kicking a ball without his Dad's influence, although Brentford's boss says that he's there because they think he's a good player. My point is he's doing the day to day at a level, a less glamorous level, which I would equate to BB learning all the stations in a restaurant kitchen.

I agree with this. You DO have to put the work in in football. And it’s not an industry known for having nepo babies, it values good footballers because, well, they need to win games (as opposed to the influencer/celeb industry which sometimes just needs a well known name).

He’s not a kid, he’s 24

Still 23.

He is a kid / baby when it comes to adult life - career and family. He is just starting out as an adult and with a different life to date than most.

He very much conveys the ‘don’t mess with me’ approach to soldiering. I couldn’t run away from him I’d just hand over my weapons and surrender.

Not sure that will help him on the battlefield, but you would be a disaster as a soldier@DesertRose64 !! but I do get your point 😀

@TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl Peltz's parents are billionaires.

Which is exactly why she also wanted someone rich. She wouldn’t look at him twice if he wasn’t a Beckham

daretodenim · 28/01/2023 15:10

He's been to football (David probably hoped he inherited football skills)

I know very little about DB and not into football. A long time ago I heard him being interviewed and he said that he was not especially talented as a kid. He said the difference between him and others was that he practiced a LOT to get the skills he wanted. He was always outside doing things on repeat to perfect them.

That stayed with me because it's actually true for so many things: practice can take you very, very far, if you focus on it. Obviously you can't completely lack coordination for instance, but the idea that his skills could be inherited is actually contrary to how he described himself excelling.

I would LOVE to see Gordon Ramsey's critique of the cooking videos. If they teamed up and he had the piss taken out of him by Ramsey it could actually be a great collab. No way will that be happening though.

I didn't know that GR's son was in the marines or JO's daughter studying to get a nurse. Some great parenting there from parents who could have taken the Beckham route.

karamazing · 28/01/2023 15:11

Footballing ability doesn't usually run in families, or does it?
The closest I can get is Harry Redknapp/Frank Lampard.
Perhaps the boys were raised to believe they would all grow up into football stars like their dad so they never bothered with Plan Bs or any other Plan As.

Not to forget that Cruz 'sings' (so just like mum!)

In fairness, I think they tried to push Harper academically. She was at a very high achieving feeder school but she never got into the schools to which it could have led on whereas the PMs daughter breezed it (same cohort, I think).

23yo’s are not babies and he probably has far more experience and exposure to the world than normal 23yo men.

Can we just stop infantilising him please!

seeing as her dad is a billionaire, she either is of a similar intellect or wants media exposure.

Well you can be a billionaire all you like but she’s after fame and the famous family name would have been a big draw for her, a showbiz marriage is something money can’t buy

You misunderstood me. I am not saying he IS a baby. I am saying he is a baby adult - just starting out into decades of adulthood. You can replace baby with new adult or young adult. He is still a youth according to all definitions. He is at the age when many are just finishing uni and he is just starting his career and family life. It is a time of transition into the adult world.
