To feel sorry for Brooklyn Beckham?

Ridelikethewindypops · 28/01/2023 09:32

I just do feel a bit sorry for him. He's completely out of touch with the real world obviously, but he's so young and so gormless. But seems so determined to be famous in his own right, despite no specialist skill set. I wonder do famous parents ever encourage their children to go to uni and get a real job? Or is that not an option? There are plenty of fulfilling jobs he could do, teaching, nursing, even volunteering ( as he clearly doesn't need the money)
I feel bad for him as he gets mocked online, but he still seems determined to put himself out there.
Money aside, I do feel sorry for the children of spectacularly talented parents, it must cast a long shadow. ( I repeat, money aside...😅)

I do wonder what Brooklyn's in-laws think of his entrepreneurial "careers" and whether they are disappointed in their daughter marrying someone with no apparent talent in any of his choices and just spends his time on social media sites for the likes.

Their daughter is another nepo baby who has had bit parts in movies thanks to her connections. If they are going to be disappointe in anyone, they can start with her! She doesn't have a career either and she is 28!

ArtVandalay · 28/01/2023 12:49

He has probably been brought up to foster the importance of fame over academia. Neither of his parents are intellectuals, and they’ve done very well indeed. Victoria has made a huge success on zero talent, so if Brooklyn is happy titting about on his silly vanity projects, good luck to him.

He does come across as a gormless twit though 😝

BigBoysDontCry · 28/01/2023 12:51

The problem is that he didn't want to be a photographer or a chef, he wanted to be a celebrity photographer or a celebrity chef.

The Ramsays seem to have the best approach - encouraged them to work hard at school, weren't overly exposed to the limelight and all the grown up kids now seem to have a purpose in life that is not reliant on being funded by their parents riches.

I feel sorry for BB as he seems to be a bit of a drifter with no real purpose in life

go away out of it, their daughter was on strictly, I had to google who she was, the simple fact is the rest of their kids aren't quite old enough yet.

TheObstinateHeadstrongGirl · 28/01/2023 12:52

I’m a big football fan and whilst Beckham was average, he’s enormously overrated. And also bad tempered and selfish - remember the World Cup red card? Absolutely intolerable behaviour

karamazing · 28/01/2023 12:53

I do admire them for projecting an image of being a tight family unit. I don't know how much of it is true but they seem to love each other's company and have a lot of time for extended family. The 'family is everything' is a nice concept. The Kardashians plug it as well so it could be just another branding strategy. I mean, even the Sussexes are trying that one and you could not get the whole of their extended family in a room posing for a happy photo without having emergency services outside on standby.

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 28/01/2023 12:53

He is Still a young man. Hopefully he’ll find his way. He seems like a nice guy who is struggling to find an aim or purpose and I don’t like people piling on how useless/ugly/gormless he is every time he posts something. It’s just mean. Don’t watch if you’re not interested.

I LOVE that his cookery show is called Cookin’ With Brooklyn. When his cheffing fails he can go into porn: Fookin’ With Brooklyn. Then birdwatching: Lookin’ With Brooklyn. Then literature: Bookin’ With Brooklyn. Chess! Rookin’ With Brooklyn. The possibilities are endless!

This made laugh out loud

He seems to have minimal self awareness which for him is probably a good thing

😅yes, I don't even want to say anything mean about him, because it would not be right.

Fizbosshoes · 28/01/2023 12:55

I think its difficult because he's been brought up as part of a very fame hungry family brand, then he's done his growing up in public as it were. The media are almost waiting for him to do something or be someone amazing....when maybe he's just average..? VB and DB are probably average at a lot of things but had success from working hard and having opportunities, luck and great promotion.

It would be easier for example for Gary Barlow/Jamie Redknapps kids to go and work in Costa because they aren't instantly recognisable and haven't got a lot of press attention.

Because he's grown up with a lot of attention he's likely to get it whatever he does, and would probably be reported on negatively for working in Aldi for instance, that he's taking a job from someone who needs the money!

This is 100% on him he has more opportunities then most and if he's genuinely interested in become a chef he needs to go to college to pursue that and I'm sure mummy and daddy will buy him a restaurant at the end.

Why should Mum and Dad buy him a restaurant? He's married to a very rich woman, surely that 'family money' could be used to set him up.

I disagree, I’d say Lady Louise is just as famous a BB and she works in a garden centre

She’s one of the younger ones, I thought.

VB is really talented - everyone laughed when she ditched a singing career (and she can't sing) to become a high end fashion designer.

But she did it and - years later - is highly respected and successful.

The business has recorded record looses totalling £66 million

MeinKraft · 28/01/2023 12:58

No I don't feel sorry for him. He seems to be happy. He had a wife, a nice family, plenty of money. So he doesn't have any great talents, and he's pretty average in terms of skills, intelligence and looks. Does it really matter as long as he's happy.

crosspusscrossstitcher · 28/01/2023 12:58

Maybe he should have taken the opportunities (exceptional education) when they were offered and got...a job?
I can't feel sorry for a man-child, even though his parents are partly to blame - he chose to drop out of education and has no particular talent for anything.
Not uncommon in the kids of very wealthy parents.

I saw the IG story of him making a small plate of truffle pasta. The value of the truffles he put in was possibly over thirty quid. He was too tone-deaf to understand

Even worse... he said... 'you can never have enough truffle'. Ouch.

Shock 😡

Thank you for your service in watching a clip so I don't have to, Roussette 😁

karamazing · 28/01/2023 13:00

I'd really like that plate of pasta right now. 😶

bedisbest · 28/01/2023 13:01

Whether or not people on here want to acknowledge it, being an influencer/ content creator is now an actual way to make a living. Its quite a reasonable option for a young man who already has a head start in terms of his public profile.

He may succeed, he may fail, but if he fails that will make him no different from the many young people who try to follow this path or similar in the entertainments/ arts and creative industries. Or who try and fail in professional sports.

Nor is it unusual for people to try out a number of different paths/ careers. I have worked in several myself.

Speedywallpaper · 28/01/2023 13:01

Just watched the pasta reel. It's burnt!

Eldest DD studied psychology at Oxford Brookes
Next DD studied fashion at Ravensbourne and AFAIK hasn’t used her family name to promote a fashion line
Her twin brother joined the Marines
The other boys is 3

Only Tilly is an ‘influencer’ but I really don’t think they’re any way comparable to the Beckhams pushing a family brand

Onlly watched it this morning, and given how strong truffle is, he clearly hasn't a clue as I have never seen so much truffle in one small bowl of pasta, gave me the ick to be honest 🤣

Yes, Tilly has three older siblings. There’s only one younger one, who’s only a very small child.

You'd be surprised how many businesses run at a loss. For a significant period of years this was true of a certain South American Large River Company...

Orinoco?🤔
