So, I’ll start by saying I was a long time user of the forum for many years then went on hiatus and have now returned, in May last year I finally managed to buy my own house after splitting from my Ex due to his infidelity and financial abuse. I have bought the quirky little 18th century mid terrace cottage I dreamed about, it needs loads of work but I’m in it after over 4.5 years of my ex refusing to leave the FMH.
okay onto the actual reason for this, currently I live alone with just DS’s 13 and 11 for most of the week. When I came home yesterday from work I smelt smoke, did a massive search of the house and found nothing until I got into my bedroom that overlooks my yard. Next door was sold early this year and they now have builders in, who have a ruddy great bonfire alight and are burning kitchen cabinets and all sorts on. I’m on my own so decide to leave it as even though it’s less than 3 metres from my boundary house wall I don’t want to get into an argument with builders while my partner isn’t here (he isn’t moving in until mid-late February and lives the other side of the country). I think it’ll be fine I can air the house tomorrow.
Well I’ve woken up this morning and it still stinks, look out my window and discover the builders have left the bonfire smouldering overnight.
AIBU to be annoyed at my stinking house?
AINBU to be annoyed at my stinking house and the fact it’s a hazard? Should I make a complaint to the council, I don’t want to piss off new neighbours if they’re going to move in and be angry I complained about their builders…
Sorry it’s so long
