I've been poorly with the flu for about a week (tested in hospital so I know it's the flu). I was finally starting to feel slightly better everyday and then Thursday night I couldn't sleep as I had an awful headache. Woke up with it again yesterday and through the day it slowly developed in to a fever, chills, and awful pain around my face. Can't bite as my teeth are so sore, pain radiates right around my eye, through my ear and all down my jaw right to my neck.
I've tried paracetamol and it's not touching it. I've tried a nasal rinse even though my nose doesn't actually feel too badly blocked, one stuff came out but it didn't help. One side of my face is just throbbing so intensely and is hot to touch. I can't sleep and I feel right back to square one with the fever and chills!

From what I've read online there's no point contacting a medical professional as they won't give you anything for a sinus infection anyway. So has anyone had this and found something that helps relieve some of the pain pretty quickly? Not sure how much longer I can cope with the pain Sad

Sorry, don’t know why it’s just posted an Expedia ad 🙄
Search Dr Mandell, sinus relief on you tube
I’ll try the link again 🥴 soz if it doesn’t work 😬….(wish you could edit)

Blocked nose tablets from Home Bargains. I have to take cocodamol for the pain 😫

Lay on bed on back hang head over the edge.

Little facial massager can help.

Cry.

You have my sympathies 😔

Do you have OTC medicine with Guaifenesin as an ingredient? It’s an expectorant than thins snot and chest mucus. Don’t take it if you will be in public and have ample supplies of nose blowing material available …it’s pretty gruesome when it starts working but it’s really effective at getting the goo moving.

So painful😔 the 2 medicines I swear by are Sinutab plus Otrivine nasal spray. Like others have said, for me Sibutab works great whereas Sudofed does nothing. Otrivine has a very quick effect for me too.

Here is this method: enter bathroom. Figure out how to keep the fan off (mine goes on with the light so I take a flashlight in). Plug tub. Begin to fill tub using the shower with the hottest water you can stand. Get in. Let hot water run over your face and breath as much steam as you can stand. Stay on there forever. Optional addition: plug your nose and swallow repeatedly with your head tipped back. This will encourage sinuses to drain down back of throat. Helps avoid blowing your nose which can force the infection into the inner ear.
