Upper lip pigmentation issue! Help!

Wondering if anyone can help with this as it’s driving me crazy! The skin above my upper lip is noticeably lighter than the rest of my face, I’ve been to derms and the GP who say nothing can be done and can’t even really tell me what caused it.

But the lightness is fine, what really bothers me is that in certain lighting it appears grey and is really defined on my face. Makeup doesn’t seem to cover it and it’s really getting to me. Does anyone have any suggestions of what to do/ how to hide this?

Could it be melasma? I had this from a change of contraceptive pill. Using sunscreen + a tailored prescription from dermatica has vastly reduced it. I'm very pale so my skin looked darker but it was a grey tone to it so wondered if it could be the same thing.

Do you wax your top lip? My friend had this but a lot worse and when she went and got a full skin analysis, they told her it was caused by waxing. I felt a bit concerned because I also need to wax but havent noticed issues yet.

I thought melasma would be darker? The skin is definitely lighter in normal daylight but it seems that it is artificial light that makes it appear grey/dark for some reason

I used to be ax and do believe it was caused by this. How did your friend cope with it, did she figure out a way to hide it?

I have melasma here too and use factor 50 on my face. I've been using the same concealer I use on my eye bags and that really works! Depends on what makeup you wear of course, but I use foundation every day so a little concealer underneath really helps.
