Email from teacher - DS ‘finds it difficult to get his ideas written down… and to manage his emotions’. DS is 7. School have requested a meeting next week with both parents (we are separated).

Would you be worried?

I'd not be worried, but would want to go to meeting and hear what they have to say.

It sounds like they want to look at how they can support your DC, so wait and see what they say.

Erm.. no. That's a big leap on your part unless there are family reasons for thinking this. He's 7 - sounds like most kids I know at that age. Why was your "default" to SEN OP?

SavoirFlair · 26/01/2023 20:42

Maybe he just struggles to get his ideas down.

Maybe not everything needs a label to explain away the ordinary.

Maybe wait till the parent teacher meeting?

MuggleMe · 26/01/2023 20:42

They might, they might not, but either way they'll need to put a support plan on place, and that'll need buy in from both of you and actions at home.

They may just want to raise their observations and strategies to overcome any issues affecting confidence. Do you notice similar that you have made such a leap?
