Something weird happened to me earlier

I was out walking my dog earlier today. All of a sudden my vision went strange (zooming in and out) and I passed out losing consciousness. I regained consciousness several minutes later on the floor in the mud and had no idea where I was (I was in the woods) and I was confused and felt very sick. I remember shaking before I came around.

my husband found me and took me to hospital. I had bloods taken, head scan, my heart checked and everything was normal. I have now been discharged and feel absolutely fine.

I am female, late 40’s on no medication and no health problems. What on earth happened? Anyone else experienced this?

I have no idea really but how awful.

No slips or trips just before that put you into shock?

Any pain first?

Mumteedum · 26/01/2023 19:36

Could it be migraine? Poss menopause related?

I had an episode just the once at a checkout in a shop. I couldn't move. I didn't faint but went so dizzy, the floor moved and vision went funny. It's really scarey.

Mumteedum · 26/01/2023 19:36

And was the dog ok? Did he stay with you like a good doggo or fetch help like lassie?

Summerishere123 · 26/01/2023 19:37

This happened to my mum and was the start of menapause.

SouthCoastShell · 26/01/2023 19:39

How awful. Have they ruled out a epileptic seizure?

Girlking · 26/01/2023 19:40

Get your thyroid function checked out as sometime similar happened to me a few years ago and it was to do with my thyroid

Girlking · 26/01/2023 19:41

Something

Frogsinspace · 26/01/2023 19:41

Had you eaten? Could it be a hypoglycaemic episode?

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/01/2023 19:41

It must have been very alarming!

Do you ever get low blood pressure? Is there any chance you were dehydrated?

Quiltedandwilted88 · 26/01/2023 19:44

I have no idea and not an HCP but there was one of those ambulance programmes on the tv the other day in which a bloke had similar symptoms as you. He was driving on the motorway and all of a sudden his vision went momentarily and he pulled off in to a service station and called for help. He didn’t pass out but felt unwell. He had a headache and was diagnosed with migraine. Hope you find the root cause op.

Yeahrightthen · 26/01/2023 19:44

I’ve fainted a couple of times due to low blood pressure.

Felicity42 · 26/01/2023 19:44

Had you done a lot of exercise the day before?

SoManyCreepyBears · 26/01/2023 19:45

Was the head scan an MRI? If not please ask for one.

I don’t believe they investigate lone seizures, if you have two I believe then you are sent for an EEG.

Columbina · 26/01/2023 19:51

I have experienced similar, except for when I came round I was totally blind for about 15 minutes. In my case it was a faint, but a bad one.

FabFitFifties · 26/01/2023 19:54

Did the hosputal not even hazard a guess?

ColdHandsHotHead · 26/01/2023 19:55

vertigo?

Thehonestbadger · 26/01/2023 19:56

Long shot but possible menieres?
my father has it and has episodes not too dissimilar

ShakespearesBlister · 26/01/2023 19:57

Bloody hell OP. Migraine. Pain. Dizzy. Menopause. Thyroid. Diabetes. Low blood pressure. Seizures. Blind. This lot will have you in your grave tomorrow 😱🤣

Tabitha1960 · 26/01/2023 19:59

If it was a sudden drop in blood pressure or blood sugar, this would have righted itself by the time they took your bloods.

The same thing happened to a man I was living with years ago and he was absolutely fine afterwards and it never happened again.

I'm sorry this happened to you as it sounds scary.

My colleague had a similar episode at work related to menopause and low blood pressure.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 26/01/2023 20:00

Following with interest. I get vision problems that are migraines, but they start with a grey fog and then a sort of flashing rainbow appears. Sometimes I feel really weird, but not passed out yet.

Dvla · 26/01/2023 20:02

Aura migraine.

I've had 4 in my lifetime. Scary as hell each time. I haven't lost consciousness though. But for 10 minutes I've lost my sight.

Fainting it caused by low blood pressure and that can cause some visual disturbances too.

Cuppasoupmonster · 26/01/2023 20:03

God how frightening. Once I banged my elbow (hard) in the shower, and everything went black and I fell onto the floor. Apparently there’s some nerve in the arm that if you bang it hard enough it switches the brain off (or something like that). Obviously this didn’t happen to you but basically there are weird things that can happen! Glad you’re okay.
