A couple are going out for Person A's family party on Friday night.

This couple hardly ever go out in the evening for drinks/parties and Person B states they don't have anything to wear.

Person B also states they are skint until payday and have no money in their account.

Person A states that they will pay for/lend them money until payday to buy a top.

Person A will send Person B money when they find a top

Person B thinks that Person A should just send them money now. Person A is notoriously bad at answering calls so Person B is worried about hanging around a shop waiting for bank transfer.

Windscreen "who the hell doesn't shop online nowadays?" - what an odd comment, lots of people prefer not to shop online - I never do.

@MichelleScarn if he's giving her the money anyway what's the harm? She's hardly likely to be a meth head based on this thread.

It depends on if there is a dress code or if it’s just that they fancy a new outfit.

DH has had to attend family weddings on my side that are three days affairs and needed three outfits. Plus I have been to his workplace socials that require evening dress as black tie. We just buy our own clothes but I suppose if one of us was very hard up I think we would have bought the other the outfit.

Person B should read up on economic independence and learn to manage their money better and practice self sufficiency, that way they wouldn't need to be beholden to Person A to be buying them a top when they feel they don't have anything to wear.

Person B could sell old tops on Vinted or Ebay to raise money for new top or even better show some chutzpah buy a sewing machine and make bespoke 'designer' tops with a 600% mark-up price!
