Hi,

I have been offered an operation following if I get all clear from Neurologist.

I don’t feel any pain in the neck and can move it freely enough to the point I’m thinking what, I thought it was back pain I had.

A recent MRI scan showed lesion on the neck so they have said they can do op and cut at front of neck, remove a disc and that stops any progression further down spine, but it is high risk. They did mention something starting with a T but I can’t remember.

I just got upset as they said it won’t cure the numb tummy when I certainly asked. (this remains the mystery to them and me) I don’t have roll on floor but pains but it’s like someone strangling me in the stomach. I was kind of hoping it may be the Saxenda but by tomorrow morning Saxenda is out of my system.

I was my parents only capable of walking child (brother had a freak accident and is fully wheelchair bound himself) and I intended to be the one looking after them when time came.

If the Op works then might I be able to leave hospital quicker, if the admirable old girls on my ward can start physio after I’m thinking there’s hope and it is do-able.

I maybe getting rid of the diabetes tag which has made me smile.

Don’t know if I need a handhold or WWYD

I also have work wanting to call, they know I’m in hospital, best to tell them everything?

Did they go through the risks vs the benefits with you? What are the chances of failure? Have you asked if there is a nurse specialist who can help you to go through your options with you?

Thank you for responding, there was a nurse with specialist nurse on lanyard with the consultant, just they talk so fast and I’m afraid I interrupted just eager to get rid of the horrible numb sensation. They just said I’m young to get this problem.

I would have liked my parents present but I should be a big girl and they always appear never timed when the folks are around. They have since visited and I asked them, at which point Mum said she briefed my work/it’s not totally a cold call tomorrow as GP said hospital are responsible for any subsequent fit note.

Just got more time to think ahead of neurology getting here and compose some questions. I haven’t looked into neck complaints but think I better.
