That is not a chocolate cake.

Looks great.

Tastes good for a supermarket cake.

Costs up to around £25

Thanks

Looking at cakes atm.

Costco.

Costco cakes taste too sweet and artificial. I agree that M and S make the best shop bought cakes.

M&S cakes look great but I find them sickly sweet. Do you have a cafe or bakery near you that could sell or make one for you?

I would go to M&S.

Me too.

Slightly above your budget at £30 but this cake is excellent, got the larger size for my daughter's birthday. Very tasty, light sponge and not too ridiculously sugary. Easy to decorate with a personalised cake topper or candles etc

Some Sainsbury’s sell patisserie Valerie cakes , would go for that if it’s an option.

Aren't they around £40 though.

Marks and Spencer cake and then put some of their pretty mini sponge cakes or similar around it to make it go further.

Ooh that's a good idea!

My dds cry if I offer to bake instead of go to M&S for their birthday cakes!

Sainsbury’s do Patisserie Valerie cakes - their chocolate one with macarons on top is gorgeous and doesn’t look like a supermarket cake at all.

Wasn't looking for a chocolate cake - also want to spend up to £25.

I went on their website but couldn't see the Patisserie ones to see if they have any other styles.

You could pimp your M&S cake with some fondant fancies

whataboutnow · 24/01/2023 15:17

Not a supermarket but I have been using Sponge online for quite a while now .Lots of flavours ,one on offer each week and they also do cakes with slices of different flavours .We have one of their piñata ones a couple of times too. All very popular in our household .

Iwantmyoldnameback · 24/01/2023 16:00

I don't really like cake which is probably why I like the Costco one.

gogohmm · 24/01/2023 16:18

@Cococomellonn

Actually cakebox is inside our Asda!

gogohmm · 24/01/2023 16:19

Costco cakes are vile, I would avoid, actually the carrot one is passable but too sweet

StrawberryShortcake01 · 24/01/2023 16:22

Fiona Cairns cakes from Waitrose are delicious, especially this one, which is also really pretty. Our guests couldn’t believe it was ‘only’ £16 and from a supermarket.
