Godparents from one side

First baby, hoping to have 3-4 kids all going well. Starting to think about godparents, is it unfair of me to want to pick both godparents from my side of the family for this baby with the view to picking exclusively from his side next time for eventual baby number 2?

Are you religious?

It’s a bit weird. Why wouldn’t you want all children to have this particular link with both sides?

Swiftswatch · 22/01/2023 19:56

It’s a bit weird to be so selfish about god parents for an imaginary baby.

It doesn’t really matter what randoms think, the father of the baby is the only other person who matters.

I'd say a pair from each side. They don't have to be together though ie for mine I wanted my friend and my brother

Hyppogriff · 22/01/2023 19:59

And it’s only weird / unfair i suppose if your other half disagrees or wants to choose someone.

what is odd is the ‘you’ll get both for the next one’. You haven’t even had this one yet.

DD has two of our friends as godparents and DS has BIL and his wife. No reason whatsoever to not pick anyone from my side of the family, I get on very well with my brothers. No one ever questioned our choices. I say have who you want.
