Is the Zoe nutrition test worth it? Or Emperor's new clothes?

I've read a lot about Zoe nutrition - a much hyped, expensive nutrition package which helps you to regulate blood glucose and blood lipids, and improve your microbiome profile.'

Has anyone done this and found it worth the money? Aren't they really just testing your cholesterol levels and finding out by using a £40 monitor what foods causing a sugar spike after eating? Therefore guiding a better diet?

I’ve signed up to the waiting list but didn’t see an option to buy in to the program.

Anyone know how long-ish I could be waiting for?

@LisaLovedUp I've signed up. For good, or bad! I mean, it's not until June, and I could get run over by a bus by then, but I get that the combined test cost is still relatively reasonable if i was do to go elsewhere.

Hi @hydroxyapatite You could try asking on the other threads if anyone has a referral code and then you get instant access.

I think the other threads on Zoe are on the General Health forum (I started one there when I started the program.)

Anyone who joins gets referral codes to hand out to friends etc (I've used mine up) but you might be lucky!

As my previous post- see General Health board for other Zoe threads and ask peeps for a referral code for instant access.

@LisaLovedUp thank you!

This is my refer a friend code for pre-order access if anyone is interested. I think it's great to try and eat well in the long term by knowing how different foods affect you.
You also might be able to find a 10% discount code online.

hydroxyapatite · 23/01/2023 12:32

@Alicebear - I tried your link, thanks! But it's still June access.

Is there a different sort of access or is it all now preorders, do you think?

I'm not sure. I signed up in March 22 and waited until this mon

I was poised to buy the Zoe program today, but I couldn’t decide whether to go for the 4 mths or 12 mths package.
Does anybody have an opinion?
Personally, I do eat a healthy diet, and I am wondering how much I would benefit from the 12 months… Maybe I will get fed up of logging my food for that long?
I guess what I am wondering is, can you get all the information you need from 4 mths or is there some benefit from having the plan for a whole year? Thank you.

vestanesta · 26/01/2023 20:03

@Moongerbil I signed up for 4 and got 3 months free via the referrals. I won't renew. I do track maybe 50% of the time but I've stopped logging my poo and stuff.

Moongerbil · 26/01/2023 20:45

@vestanesta , thank you.
how did the referrals work? Is it something that people share on here for an extra free mth?
Would you recommend signing up for four months then, even if I don’t figure out how to get extra referrals? Thank you

vestanesta · 26/01/2023 20:51

Yes. When you sign up they'll give you the 3 referral codes which you can share and get your free months.

I saw someone wearing a thing that looked like a diabetic CGM monitor. But with Zoe on it. I wondered what it was!

webuser · 14/06/2023 14:56

have done the Zoe test and received unintelligible results. how do you find out what foods are good for you personally rather than generic results? do you really have to log every meal you ever eat?

also why oh why is the whole package infantilised, for example giving gut bacteria moronic nicknames? Surely we are all adults?

EsmeSusanOgg · 14/06/2023 15:05

The blood sugar monitoring is useful. Especially if you are pre-diabetic. Not sure if ongoing membership would be worth while, but understanding how your body handles different foods is useful.

I didn't really want to listen bec I assume they drone on a lot about why people should purchase their products. also it's a bit of a sly question (for me) bec you can only learn stuff you didn't already know; maybe I already heard about everything they say. But I am interested in what value others found in their wellbeing podcasts. what knowledge gap the Zoe podcasts fill for others.

maybe I can find a transcript, quickly get the gist...

Listen to the Diary of a CEO with Tim Spector podcast. They are not pushing products other than tangentially his book. If you really don't want to listen then read the YouTube transcript

Mines is coming next week, I've been waiting 6 months for it

My friend did it and the app is fantastic - it basically tells you what foods to eat for YOUR body (they analyse your micro biomes in the gut)

Her and her partner did it and the list of foods they can eat without issue are TOTALLY different - she can metabolise crisps with no issue but not walnuts - her partner can't eat yoghurt and kale

And when I say 'can't' what I mean is that there's a giant long list of every food with the red at the top (eat this as little as possible)

Orange - combine it with something (like eat bread only with peanut butter)

Green - eat however much you like

She eats peanut butter, nuts continuously (and crisps almost every day) and has lost half a stone - she was already a size 8 but now she's actually lean, sleeps really well, boundless energy

So it's COMPLETELY PERSONAL - not just eat a Mediterranean diet

As I said, her partners diet is really different from hers - both 50's, both slim and healthy

But they metabolise food differently

lljkk · 01/07/2023 19:27

How tall is your friend, Laurie, the one who lost half a stone on Zoe Food recommendations.

thebellagio · 01/07/2023 20:00

I’m really intrigued. I’ve signed up with an estimated August start date.

my friend has lost about 9kg in six months using their guidance.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/07/2023 20:18

She's 5ft 9

lljkk · 01/07/2023 20:24

So how much did she weigh when she was wearing size 8 & before she lost half a stone?

since this is MN I imagine you'll say about 100 kg. But prove me wrong.

FifiRebel · 01/07/2023 20:33

I started it 2 days ago, have spent £££ but I threw up the muffins that are critical for the testing. No reply from Zoe help centre yet so am feeling a bit ripped off.

MustYou · 01/07/2023 20:47

I always feel like you’re trying to make a point @lljkk but I can (genuinely!) never quite figure out what it is.

I'm not sure they're very helpful. I didn't get enough blood out for the blood test and that meant that they decided my blood fat management was poor. It meant there was virtually nothing I could eat...
