Stopping smoking

Aibu to think I can stop smoking through will power alone? Only smoked for 7 months after stopping for 3 years but I am annoyed at myself for starting again, I hate the smell and I want to save the money I would otherwise be spending on cigarettes. Any tips or advice. Thank you

Allen Carr's Easy Way is amazing. Completely changes your approach and helps you stop without willpower. Shows that you don't need it, or anything else to help you stop.

It's amazing and allows you to grieve. This is what I think is missing in many methods. It feels scary and sad and people miss it.

I used it 12 years ago and it changed my life.

I did. It is possible.

And, like many people, I thought I would not handle ANY kind of stress whilst or "after" - but my life started circling the drain, and I never ever smoked again.

And I was, to my shame, long-term, hardcore (although I don't think I actually smoked properly.....) 🙃

It is wise to develop at least SOME kind of strategy for the process, and your future ways of doing things minus the cigarettes - but that can lead to endless procrastination, so be careful of that.

You WILL however, feel so much better, and quite quickly as well - in terms of tasting food, feeling cleaner, having more money, having more energy and being able to take a nice deep breath.

It is a shame that "vaping" has been invented, as that is just another vice/delaying tactic, if you ask me.

I went cold turkey.
It was the only thing that worked for me.

@KT97 Did you manage to quit? If not my partner quit with hypnotherapy. Freaked him out as he didn't understand why he didn't want to smoke. No cravings or anything.

I bought the lowest nicotine patches and stretched out the days of wearing them. Went from 20 a day to zero and not looked back.

Congratulations. I went cold turkey about 15 years ago and kept all the rolling tobacco stuff so that it was a choice to stop, not that I didn't have anything to smoke. Agree above thread about Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking too.

Don't vape, I have developed a cough, even on 0%, that I never had when smoking, cold turkey.
