SNORING!!

Icanflyhigh · 15/01/2023 23:24

When it is considered appropriate to murder DH for snoring?

I'm now on night 3 of listening to his fucking nasal and raspy throat snores while I lay here wide awake.

Last night I had him on my right and the joy of listening to his fucking father who snores just as loud through the wall on my left.

I am tired, irritable, TOTM is overdue, and I'm just so fucking grumpy I could cry. Also dry January was a bad idea!!!😂😂

I've turned him over, I've held his nose, I've dug him in the ribs, it stops him for a second or two.

It's like he is bragging really loudly about what a lovely fucking sleep he is having and here I am wide awake club. Again.

Arghhhhhhh!

That's what patios are for.

I feel your pain.

GoldilockMom · 15/01/2023 23:26

Need an alibi?

Icanflyhigh · 15/01/2023 23:30

😂😂😂

I'm glad it's been taken lightheartedly! I love him dearly but Jesus wept the snoring is hideous at the moment. I told both him and his dad this morning they were on my hit list for disturbing my sleep!!

I'm rubbish when I'm tired and very aware I can become like an overtired toddler!!

Have you tried any nasal or throat sprays? I snore very loudly through my nose but a nasal spray I bought in Boots has helped massively.

BIWI · 15/01/2023 23:32

I do, when it's in the middle of the night/stupid o'clock in the morning, wonder if he's doing it deliberately. Grin

I nudge him - sometimes quite hard Blush - to turn over. Generally that deals with it. But ...

... this morning he was still snoring, even when on his side. And then kept turning back over any way.

WhenIAmOldIShallWearPurple · 15/01/2023 23:33

This is why I'm on Mumsnet right now instead of being asleep.

I occasionally pull the covers off him and then pretend to be asleep.

Yeah loads!! Nothing helps. He's not a drinker or overweight etc, it's literally just how he breaths!!

He definitely isn't putting it on, I'm chuntering my little head off at him and he'd be laughing if he was even a tiny bit awake!!

I endeavour to be abed and asleep before him. The only way. If he wakes me in the night I'm not responsible for my actions!

Get some earplugs....saved my life...and my marriage!!

Tried these, I have a DD who sometimes sleep walks so need to be able to hear her as it's likely her dad won't!!

Men are ridiculous 😂 how can they not hear themselves??

I came up an hour before him, he literally got into bed as as soon as his head touched the pillow that was it!!!😂😂

I snore very loudly so husband has separate room …game changer.

DubLynn · 15/01/2023 23:43

I just get up and sleep on the couch (happens most nights). At the very first snore I'm out of there. The alternative is being woken repeatedly through the night and somehow it's then my job to nudge him or kick him or roll him over.

keri17 · 15/01/2023 23:43

Same situation so I’ve temporarily moved into my daughters room 🤣

Miala · 15/01/2023 23:48

Lots of sympathy OP. CPAP helps some, but I imagine sharing a room with a whooshy machine and a cold pipe snaking out of your beloved's face isn't that much fun either. I'm team Separate Bedrooms if at all humanly possible.

Oh no CPAPs are worth their weight in gold… platinum… whatever.

My DH’s is silent as long as the cat hasn’t chewed a hole in the tube. When that happens it’s a high pitched weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Not been a problem since I bought him a tube cozy.

Before he got I could have written the OP’s post

Icanflyhigh · 16/01/2023 00:18

I'm now installed on the sofa!!
I can still hear him as he's in the room above and at some point through the night he will realise I'm not in bed - so will probably come and wake me up and ask what wrong?!😂😂

OP posts:
OllytheCollie · 16/01/2023 00:27

If he hasn't got apnea CPAP won't help. But he shd make a Dr's appt to check if it's apnea as it's a serious health condition.

Sadly my DH got referred to ENT when I lost it over his really loud snoring and the ENT said the only reason he snores is he has a very big nose. Which is true but useless. We have tried bloody everything - special pillows, nasal sprays, taping his mouth shut (I am not joking). When the kids were small and he slept badly it was so loud our neighbours could hear it and used to ask how I coped (by plotting his murder obviously).

Thisreally has helped. He's got one in now and all I can hear is light snuffling. Game changer.

saltinesandcoffeecups · 16/01/2023 00:28

You all are much nicer than I am. We have a rule in my house… he who is making the most noise sleeps elsewhere. I’m screwed now because DH got the cpap so now the only snorer in the house is ,,,, oh shit it’s me on occasion!

Yeah screw that I tell DH when he complains that when he hits 10 years of sleepless nights then we’ll be even and he can suffer until then when I have the odd cold.

MKD1 · 16/01/2023 00:32

I'm up at the moment with the exact same scenario. I've asked him to roll over a number of times which he hadn't done! Now my 3 year old has jumped into our bed crying. If he hadn't I would have 'accidentally' elbowed DH on his face. Which I'm known to do time to time when I'm 'super tired'. 🤣

BIWI · 16/01/2023 00:33
Grin
Icanflyhigh · 16/01/2023 00:36

Good to know there's a whole crew of us!!!

I'm trying my hardest to not be grumpy when he comes and wakes me up, which I know he will! He means well, and I'm sure he doesn't realise how loud he is!

Tempone · 16/01/2023 00:37

I'm the snorer no medical reason, besides shitty airwaves. And I lay awake anxious at night because dh wakes me up usually sweating at me because I snore (I know its awful) but he refuses to use ear plugs. I sleep on the couch when he is working the next day. But I have arthritis and it hurts. He also stays awake really late the nights he isn't working, so the couch isn't an option for the first half of the night.
I hate that I snore but honestly I feel like a second class citizen in my own home.
I sleep on my side, I have tried millions of nasal sprays and throat sprays. I'm sick of my husband being annoyed and angry with me for something I genuinely can't help.
