Anyone else’s house a shit hole because their ‘D’H is a half-a-job-Bob?

Getting fucking sick of it now.

Desperately trying to get the house on the market, there’s a few jobs which need finishing which with a bit of effort could be done by the end of the week. But of course it won’t because DH won’t pull his finger out of his arse and when he does, whatever he attempts goes wrong and it’s up to me to get a professional in to fix it. Either that or he leaves it half done and never finishes it.

Would paint and do the manual stuff myself but heavily pregnant so I can’t. No I won’t LTB as this is pretty much my only complaint. Purely a
moan thread.

Pay a local tradesman. If DH is truly capable of the job he'll be either mortified and do the rest himself or grateful as it's beyond his abilities.

Many women are exercising, working, socialising right up until their due dates

Not sure when this trend of becoming vegetables after month 8 came from tbh

And some aren't because they're not supposed to or they are too heavy or they feel like shit.

Can you read the OP's posts by the way? They're easy to find...

Why have you and DH made the joint decision to leave all of this until now? School year places etc aren’t moving goal posts.

Amazed you can’t even clean a window.

Why do women have to be spiteful to other women?

When I was at the OP's stage of pregnancy I was on bed rest for one and had my head in a bucket for another one.

@HintofVintagePink “So what do you actually want OP?” She said in her OP, to have a moan, which is perfectly ok.

ImBlueDab · 15/01/2023 16:55

My now exdh was like this. I ended up paying someone to sift his messes out. He would get really shitty with me when I did but I got fed up with living in a shit hole.

The final straw ended up having contractions and sitting in a bath in a bathroom with nothing in it except a bath and toilet. No bath panel or tiles all bare plaster. I swore at that time I'd get someone in to finish as I didn't want to be bathing my newborn in the bath in a building site

Miala · 15/01/2023 17:02

Just put it on the market as is. Most of us have a long to do list on our houses but painting a wall, cleaning the windows or painting the banisters won't necessarily get you thousands of pounds extra or make the difference between a sale and not.

What does your estate agent say? All the ones we had round said don't do a thing, the catchment and number of bedrooms will close the sale. This was despite DH thinking we couldn't possibly sell without changing doors and light fittings etc. Bear in mind nesting may be making these details feel vastly important to you at the moment than they will to any buyers.

I felt your rage when I read this post 😡 the hormones probably aren’t helping!

Anyway he’s gone very quiet after my screaming fit, gone to B&Q and is now silently working his way through the jobs. So I don’t want to say a bitch fit works but 🤷🏼‍♀️

No op. But bullying an abuse do work. Eh?

Bullying and abuse 🙄

Just to add a bit of context, I posted because that’s the first time I’ve ever screamed at him in 9 years - that’s how much this has pushed me to my limits. I simply won’t believe anyone who says they’ve never lost their cool like this at some point, especially when heavily pregnant or faced with a situation that has been relentlessly frustrating for months. Do you think I should’ve LTB instead? And he would’ve been happier with that?

Please don’t trivialise abuse for the sake of a quippy response.

@Halfajobbob You might have got a sympathetic hearing and a vaguely funny-ranty thread on any other board than AIBU, which is full of po-faced loons who all want to be the first to

1 accuse you of abuse
2 say 'if the genders were reversed'
3 accuse you of setting women's emancipation back 75 years, possibly 100
4 tell you that you sound like hard work
5 ignore everything you said in your OP
6 pretend that medical conditions of late pregnancy are no reason why you can't Do It All because they managed to do some things in a completely different context

AIBU is a weird place these days, and quite tediously formulaic, especially if you appear on 'Trending'. It's like a whistle.

Good luck with the birth and your house move. Must be stressful. Flowers
