To be appalled that the Bbc are debating the right to strike

The bbc are currently debating, on one of their sickly Sunday morning shows if people have the right to strike.

Anyone in a decent society has the right to withdraw their Labour - might be good to take a look at the countries that don’t have the right to strike. It’s a sign of a democratic society that you can withdraw your labour.

Aibu to think that there shouldn’t even be a debate about the ‘right’ to strike. Of course I would expect nothing less from the fascists in waiting that are the current Tory party though.

there should be no debate in a democratic society

Op here- I managed to lock myself out of my account on my phone & so had to create a new account. But I wanted to clarify what I meant here as I phrased it REALLY badly.

What I basically meant was that in a democracy, the right to strike should exist as a matter of course and as one of the freedoms we enjoy. The right to remove our Labour. Some of the biggest Labour protections that we have came from strike action. I didn’t mean that we shouldn’t be able to discuss or debate anything.

What I did feel watching that programme this morning is that it’s part of an insidious campaign to support the governments new shitty anti strike legislation. And that it’s part of a bigger campaign to strip us of our rights and protections.

I don’t believe that removing the right to strike should be part of a discussion at the moment- the focus should be ‘how can we pay our nurses a better wage so they aren’t going to food banks’ not ‘how can we remove the right to strike’

Fascists are people who don't like debate (such as debates on the right to strike). In other words, they don't like disagreement and they expect everyone to do what they say. The real fascists in modern Britain are the liberal-left woke bullies. They won't tolerate any disagreement, and they shut down debate at every opportunity. In fact, many of the things Orwell warned about in 1984, such as re-writing history, are now being done by woke extremists. In my experience, moderate, middle-of-the-road conservatives are FAR more open-minded, FAR more tolerant and FAR more willing to listen to the opposition. Most left-wing people, however, remind me of religious fundamentalists. They have the same fanatical, closed minds, the same contempt for anyone outside their group.

I absolutely agree that everyone should have the right to withdraw their labour. But there must be limits. You could make the case for certain professions, particularly the police and the medical profession, not be allowed to go on strike. In return, there should be guarantees on their pay. And, obviously, they should be aware of this before signing up. I'm not sure I agree, but it's debatable.

I totally agree that everyone should have the right to strike.

Saying that things - anything - shouldn't be debated just because you think there is an obvious right answer is patently absurd, however.
